Need a cheap grease gun for LnL

Wal Mart, Tractor Supply, some of the main stream auto parts houses, and probably the big box home improvement stores sell a small grease gun that uses cartridges that are about 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" in diameter. They should not be very expensive and usually come with device to attach to the Zerk fitting.

You may have a choice of a rigid or flexible supply line and cartridges are available with a variety of grease in them. When empty and if you are really cheap, the grease cartridges can be refilled by hand.

Correct. The ubiquitous Zerk fitting found in the general world is common. There are different thread and attachment methods for the Zerk. There are straight and angled fittings to make greasing easy. But the end the grease gun goes is common.

Frequently, they are just called a grease fitting.

In the industrial world, the Zerk is pretty common as well but there are other ways to attach grease delivery systems to equipment.

On reflection, there may be some grease fittings out there that are a little bit smaller, or larger than a standard grease fitting, but they aren't very common. When I was working in the paper mill, I remember having to change out some grease fittings on some packaging equipment that we could not get the grease guns to work on.

But, in any case, anything you find at a retail outlet will work on your L-N-L. I do have an L-N-L and am familiar with what Hornady installed on the press.

With the LNL, press you will want to grease the RAM with the ram UP. Other wise it will not get in the grove to carry grease. Once you apply grease it will get very hard, work the ram up and down a few times before remove your grease gun. This will take the pressure off and make it easier. The fittings are pressed in so you do not want the Zerk grease head very tight or you will pop the fitting out of the Al. On the fill head the outer end moves allowing for more or less holding pressure. You do not need much.

What they said - if you have a Harbor Freight near youthey sell a good cheapie as well as the megamarts. But anything 'zerkoid' will work.

i needed one as well, i went to AutoZone, or any other car parts place, and goet a $12 one, worked like a charm....

On a similar note, how often are you supposed to grease those fittings?

I got mine at auto zone as well. It was a smaller type and included a tube of grease. Word to the wise - tighten anything on the grease gun that can be tightened or you will have grease pumping out of any place it can pump out of except for the end that you wanrpt it to. The LnL was my first need of a grease gun as well.

Geez, all you youngsters must not remember the days when we had to grease the front suspension joints of all our cars on a regular and ongoing basis. Still have that monster grease gun in the garage, but haven't used it in years.

If you want to learn grease guns... buy a corn/wheat combine!

Everything on it has a grease fitting ... probably 50+ Zerk fittings on one ... had to be greased once a day or if you ran it for a long day...twice a day! We bought grease by the case. If you didn't grease it the bearings would burn up and sometimes the whole machine.

My new LNL was also my first reason to have a grease gun of my own. I too am cheap, and luckily I work for a place with lots of grease guns around, so I cabbaged on of our small grease guns out of a smokejumper jump kit. Funny, that one must have gotten lost in the woods somewhere....

I bought small grease gun at my local hardware store for about $12 which included a tube of grease that will last forever.

Yes, but an M3A1 isn't cheap.

Eh, I've got at least 4 vehicles that need greasin', plus 3 trailers, and a boat...I've got 3 different guns loaded with different grease at my house.......Heck, my truck has about half a dozen fittings on the drive shafts alone.
