Last night my GP100 got lose and did the wild thing with my J-frame Smith.

This was the result.

It's the 3" for extra sexyness.

I have the dao 2" version and it is my favorite revolver to carry and a tie with one other for favorite to shoot. Congrats on a great pick up.

Good choice. My SP is my favorite belt carry pistol.

What wood grips do you guys recommend for an SP101?

I picked up a used one recently and was surprised that the recoil, with stock grip, was harsher than I expected. I've owned Airweight and Scandium S&W J-Frames for years and know how those feel with .38/.357 loads. I expected the SP101 to shoot softer than it did.

Now I'm torn between selling it, trying some wraparound wood grips, and maybe even porting it.

Also, I bought the 2.25" and wish I'd held out for a 3". Maybe the 3" is a slightly softer shooter?

Nice grips! Where's you get those?

I was fondling a SP101 at Sportsmans Wharehouse over the weekend and I noticed on the left side the machining work was very rough around where the cylinder closes. I know that Ruger is not finished like a S&W, and that's pretty much where the smaller price comes in, but this was really rough. I also noticed in this thread that only one picture shows the left side. Do you guys notice this on yours? Of course it wouldn't affect the function of the gun, and wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, I'm just wondering if it'd be worth it to look else where, maybe just saw a bad one.

I love my SP101. It has definitely become my carry of choice.

With a good holster, I'll wear it all day without any issue.

Edit: The grips are Badger Boot grips. The turnaround time was quite quick, and they fit/feel wonderful. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

Those badger grips look great. I can't decide between the two finger and the three finger ones. Any advise from those who carry one?

My simply rugged holster is a few weeks away still.

You guys should see the sp101 club at rf.net, some of those mirror polishes look friggin sweet!

I also had trouble deciding between the regular and the boot grips, but ultimately decided on the boot grips.

I love them, and they're extremely comfortable when I hold the gun. I've never felt like I needed the extra length of the longer grips, and since they're shorter, it conceals that much easier (I'm 150lbs, so it's tough finding a good concealable weapon).

The holster is an AKJ Concealco holster. He was running behind when I ordered t, so turn around time was a little slower than usual, and it's one thing I had wished I had ordered further in advance (just so I can start carrying that much sooner!). Initially, I felt that the holster pushed the grip into my body a bit too much for comfort, but after the break in period, it's relaxed and now fits wonderfully.

I'll post pictures after work. I also have a concealco holster, no regrets there. I would recommend a meprolight front sight as THE necessary upgrade for this weapon. I liked the stock grips just fine so I picked up some nice inserts for them

I had a 2.25" Sp-101. Really liked the gun but was not very accurate with it (I didn't practice enough). I ended up selling it to help fund my AR. If I get the opportunity to pick up a 3" I will have another one.

I once owned, and stupidly traded an SP101 for an LCR. I still get teary-eyed when I think about it...

Worst mistake I think I ever made. Ended up trading the LCR anyways.

Will own one again...some day.
