While I agree from an ethical standpoint, this was an optimal outcome for our defender. If he had killed the assailant, his life would likely be turned upside-down for some time to come. It is doubtful that the LEO's would simply pat him on the back for a job well done and send him on his way.
Yeah, I agree with you MachIVshooter. The legal repercussions of shooting the perp and killing him would have been severe. I think the guy did the best thing he could have. Not to mention, if he had shot the guy, I guarantee that someone would be arguing that he could have put the victim in danger, and he'd be taking heat for that as well.
I mean no offense to the poster of the

message, because I agree with you that killing or capturing a perp like this is the best outcome for everyone, the most needed outcome for society, and you are just plain entitled to your opinion and have the right to say what you want................ but it is exactly these types of comments that scare the hell out of anti-gun people. There was a good outcome, lets just let it be a good thing, and use it in that light to show anti-gun people that guns and armed citizens do a lot of good. Use it to make the point that a good samaratin with a legally owned gun is exactly what this society needs more of. Use it to point out that we need to take care of ourselves,
and each other if we are going to live in a safe society.
If you say things or
even imply that the armed citizen should have shot, or killed the perp, it does a disservice to the cause of gun rights. Sorry if I sound critical, bossy, or have offended you, but I just really think comments like that harm all us gun lovers and carriers. JMO
