Well, there's one advantage of private land.

Also an advantage of living in Alabama.
If we have a local PETA they must stay in Birmingham, because nobody's ever seem them.

They showed up east of Houston one year with their banners opening day of duck season. They didn't have boats. I wasn't there, just heard about it on the radio. They hired a few boats, took 'em out, they stepped off the boats in the marsh, decided it wasn't a good idea and adjourned to the local Starbucks. ROFL Seems they'd never heard of waders or.. well, mud.

Never seen them in Vermont, maybe they stay in Burlington.

Intentionally disturbing wildlife during hunting season the way those folks were doing is a felony in Arizona.

As much as I'm in the woods, I was wondering when the local chapter of peta freaks would follow me. I was in my treestand tonight, way after it got dark, here they come. Marching down the trail, blowing whistles, singing, and pounding on their tambourines. Yes, I said tambourines. I let them walk by several times and they never saw me but it was irritating to say the least. They walked around in my area (state land) for about 45 minutes making noise and looking foolish. I guess they got scared of the dark and finally left. Maybe if those fools had jobs they'd be too busy to be concerned with what everyone else was doing...

While I can see what they were doing could be frustrating, since it was already after shooting hours, they were technically NOT breaking any laws.

Chalk one up for "read the whole bit, rather than skimming through."

It's called "hunter harassment in Texas. This type of idiot is just itchin' to get arrested, though. Gets 'em TV coverage when the law is called.

That would land them in jail in PA. It's illegal the interfere with someones hunt. In parts of the state I have no doubt there would have been "warning shots fired."

You're absolutely right! A cooler head did prevail.

Open carry rifles into an outdoor PETA rally dressed in hunter's garb eating a very large hamburger gets my vote.

Because you can legally carry in NH you may or may not be aware of what happened in CA.

We were allowed to open carry unloaded, not that, that state of carry is worth anything or I ever thought of doing it. What that protest did (it was exercised in coffee shops as a protest) was cause open carry to be banned, by our legislature, in incorporated cities with the net effect of having to watch out where your firearm might be exposed, or not, if not in a locked container.

We had activists, against the advice of wiser folk, open carrying in public, sometimes doing so at a pre-determined place like Starbucks. Instead of getting the public to feel more comfortable, the net result was a ban and further restriction. Based on the ignorance of the populous here, the result is not surprising.

Way off topic, but just sayin'.

ArtP - that's interesting. I hadn't heard that they (Cali legislature) had actually done anything, but I had heard people were complaining about it.

Here in AZ, people open carry all over the place. It's more common outside of Phoenix and Tucson, but it happens there, too. Where I live, it's pretty common to see a guy or gal take off their jacket at a restaurant and expose a 1911 or a .357 or a Glock or something on their belt. Or to go to the coffeeshop or Walmart and see the folks walking around with something on their belt besides a multitool sheath and a phone.

PETA out there disturbing the poor animals while they try and sleep?....thats animal cruelty if you ask me.
