SKS Drum Magazine from Sportsmans Guide

If a detachable stick magazine can't be made reliable, I doubt that a drum would be an improvement.
But I'm guessing, I just run strippers in mine, with the as-designed internal magazine.

How much would that drum be in the way of your support arm?
How do you load it? Strippers through the bolt guide into the drum?
How much ammo could you buy with that much money?
How many stripper clips, for that matter?
Would the same amount of ammo in duckbill mags take up less space? (I know that the same amount in stripper clips would)

SKS detachable magazines are universally bad.

Tapco 20 rounders are universally great. I have a couple but I don't use them anymore because I like the gun in its stock configuration.

I would be skeptical of the drum magazine.

Does anybody out there have any experience with these SKS drum mags from the Sportsmans Guide? They are $170.00 plus shipping right now. Are they worth the money? Do they function flawlessly? Are they nothing but problems? Any reveiws would help. Here's the link...

Many Thanks in Advance from the Sandman Family!

They arent worth a darn. The only good detachable mags for a regular sks are.

1. USA brand 30 round steel mags (no longer made. But I was able to find some around).
2. Tapco 20 rounders
3. Pro mag five rounders (I will use em for hunting).

Of course the sks d and the sks m took standard ak mags so it is possible that a drum for the ak would work in an sks d or sks m but I wouldnt try it.

SKS 75rd. Drum

I haven't seen those in yrs.I paid $60.00 apice for two of them along time ago and saw the same Advertizement. My experience is that they make the gun weigh a ton and as with any SKS De-tatchable mag you can have problems. For some reason my friends yugo wont feed right with a detach mag of any kind.I think it has to do with the cross-bolt Position?I am no gun-smith so I'm not writing it in stone. My Chinese -Paratrooper had no problem,go figure?if it dosen't work right away take it to a smith and let him figure it out.But I would stick to a 30rd. clip. Also when I got them at the flea market in Rodgers Ohio someone had them wound-up thighter than'WELL SKIP THAT" and I ended up taking them to Brown's Armory in Beaver Falls P.A. to find someone who knew why they wouldn't work.I have since sold them and keep my 30rder in place.Good luck,Beak

May not work because they didnt inlet the stock. If the stock is not inletted then it will pinch the feed lips and then you get all kinds of problems. You do know that you cannot just go wood stock and detachable mags correct? If you did that you would have to update some of the parts to american made. I have my norinco down to 7 foreign parts or less so I am 922r compliant.

I ordered one yesterday for $115 plus shipping. I'll post a review when it comes in and I have the time to shoot it. Also have a pair of 20 rounds Tapco mags in OD green coming as well. FrOm everything I've read, they can be finicky and may need some alterations to the feed lips to get running.
$170 + shipping is too much to pay when they can be had for much less.

USAF Vet- Where did you order that mag?

Everybody else- Does anybody have any experince with this specific mag? My ChiCom Para SKS does fine with other detachable mags.
Thanks!
