Colts also made a short run of 1860s during the first year of production that had full fluted cylinders. And some Dragoons were produced with full fluted cylinders also. It was thought ot be a weight saving feature and on the Dragoon, I can accept that. Unfortunately, it weakened the cylinders of the 44s and they occassionally exploded. Colts did a "recall" and replaced the cylinders with the standard unfluted style.
