I would stick with camo, Like Glock36 said, look in a army surplus store.

Turkeys have really good eyesight.

And tick spray...man those little buggers are out in force already in WI

Unless I missed it somehow, you left shotgun shells off your list. You should probably pick some up, unless you're great at throwing shotguns.

Make sure you go test those shells to see how they pattern...That itself can become a $100 venture to find the best choke/ammo combo.

what do yall do with a dead turkey? they aint worth eating. all they do is hang around my feeders and are a pain in the butt. about a big a challenge to hunt as finding fat people at a McDonalds.

Turkey is delicious....while I dump the wild pigs that I kill, Turkey finds itself on the table.

Crimneyitally I have not been Turkey hunting for years & I could do it for 40 bucks, $500.00 dollars sounds a little high just to go shot a couple of birds

I just wear the camo from deer hunting, put an X-full choke in and sit in a deer blind. #4Rem supreme/870 3" never fails. A box call is all I have ever needed and I'm far from a pro caller.
One thing about turkeys is they are very predictable. The will roost in the same area every night and they will follow the same general path every day. The make a big loop so if you figure out where they are at what time, you can usually cut them off (if you have enough land to hunt on) if you miss an oppurtunity or spook them.
I think it goes without saying though, that if everyone is shooting at them all day long, you will definately disrupt their pattern

Hope you bag a big one! It'll help when you do the math and figure how much per pound that bird cost versus the one at the grocery store.

But as a dove shooter, I guess it could be said that I'm not very good at math.

I'm a new turkey hunter myself. I purchased a few different decoy sets, leafy camo suit, new choke for the shotgun, 5 boxes of various turkey loads to find out what patterned best(it seems turkey load manufacturers have found the alchemist secret of turning lead into gold, or at least they should have given what they're charging).

Add in gas for a couple of scouting trips, a few calls, and I'm right there at the $500 mark myself. However, next year will be much cheaper, now that the gear has been procured.
