I've settled on 9mm and .45 ACP as standards for the main handguns and carbines in my arsenal. Though I will have one-offs for special purposes (e.g. rifle and handgun in .22LR, an AR15 in 5.56 and a bolt action in .308), the majority will be in 9mm and .45 for ammo interchangeability purposes.
Since I am starting with a clean slate for carbines, I am completely open to input. Should I buy or build? Which weapons and why? Factors I am taking into consideration are ease of repair, availability of spare parts, longevity, and price. Am I missing anything?
