Dropped into a local gunshow this morning as a late arriving dealer was putting out his handguns. The last gun he put out was a mint Smith model 64-5 in the original box. This gun didn't have as much as a minor scratch anywhere on the gun. Cutting to the chase, $275.00 out the door and she was mine. As a bonus the gun was stamped "Detroit Police" on the grip frame. I showed the gun to a friend that is a retired Smith armorer and he said the gun appears to have been purchased by but never issued by the Detroit police. One of these days I'll learn how to post pictures.

The easiest way to post picks is to use a free image host site, there are tons of them. Once it's uploaded to the site you get a URL that you can C&P right into your post. Now that you know, post some pics!

Oh yeah, congrats on the great find.

Sounds like a great deal.
The Standard Catalog of S&W notes an order of Model 64-5 heavy barrel variants marked Detroit Police. It doesn't say how many or which year though.

Isn't there a show in Great Falls next weekend? That's always a good one.

Yep, I might give that one a try. Never been to a Great Falls show yet.:)
