Well I don't have that model of SIG 1911 I do carry the SIG RCS 1911 a CCO sized pistol. I have shot a few 3" 1911 and they are usually heavy for their size. With the Bull barrel the Ultra is just 1.5 oz less than a 4.2 inch model. What I can tell you is this, only 2 other 1911s in my collection shoot as well as the SIG RCS, a S&W 1911 PC and my STI Custom shop 9mm. I will probably never (I know never say never) buy a 3" 1911, but if it works and shoots half as well as my SIG RCS it would make a fine carry pistol. I feel that the .45 from less than a 4" barrel does not have enough vellocity to get the job done. That 3" 1911s have had a checkered history, can I trust them, I don't. Do you need the shorter barrel for concealment or the shorter grip? The CCO sized C3 and RCS have the "Officers"/compact frame, but with a "Commander" length slide and barrel. Proportionaly the CCO sized pistols are like a Government model, just 3/4" smaller in length and height. I wish I did have some experience with the SIG Ultra, but if I was to get a 3" 1911 pistol, SIG and STI would be on the short list.
