affordable 35 whelen rifles?

They make Remington 700 CDLs currently, and they used to make Ruger M77s.

The cheapest route would to find a used Savage in 30-06, 270 etc. and buy a replacement barrel.

I'd say cruising the "used" racks....

I always thought they should make the new Winchester 1895's in .35Whelen, as a tribute to the obsolete .35Winchester that the originals chambered. It would be real easy to have a .270 or .30/06 rebarrelled but probably not what anyone would consider "affordable".

check Gunbroker.com there is a 98 Mauser rebarreled and sportered in 35 Whelen for $425, ...that seems affordable. There are plenty of others as well.

I'm in the process of rebarreling my vintage Winchester 1895 to 9.3x62, which is very close to .35 Whelen in all aspects. The gun was $200, it'll take another $250 for the barrel, installed, and $100 for having the bolt (face) hardened to withstand higher pressure of the cartridge.

It could use better sights (Lyman repro?), re-bluing and nicer furniture, but I want to keep it cheap and functional at this point.
