AK optics question

Top cover optics mounting never seem to turn out with the desired results. I would suggest an ultimak mount if you want a stable holosite mount but that would not allow for a magnifier. That is how I did mine.

Does your rifle have a side rail or no?

The top covers are pretty much worthless. If your rifle has a rail, I'd use that. Barring the rail, the Ultimak is the way to go.

If you mount a Aimpoint Micro on a Ultimak (or a Micro clone from Primary Arms) it will be low enough that you can use the iron sights thru the optic if you need to.

While the cheap rail covers are generally junk the Texas Weapon Systems dog leg works quite well at providing a solid railed top cover. It's hinged sort of like a AK74U (krinkov) top rail.

I was expermenting with my AK103 and found the Texas Weapon System allows the EO Tech to hold zero well enough after opening and closing the cover. I tried this several times in a row at the range and I was happily surprised; so happy I bought another exact set up for my Red Jacket AK.
