I'm considering refinishing one my 1911s, having been inspired by this.

I want to see what it looks like from different angles, on different guns, etc. I like charcoal bluing so if you have guns finished like that definitely do post them up.

Colt 1991A1 Compact w/Clark Custom Meltdown package. In addition, Dietrich Gunsmithy removed the rollmarks from the slide, did an 11deg crown on the barrel, checkered the front strap, fitted a checkered S&A MSH, fitted a brass insert in the front sight, polished the gun and barrel, and hot blued it. The grips are Grashorn stags. I've included pics taken from different angles, as requested.

WC145, that has to be the nicest looking 1911 I have seen. I love the finish that is on it. I would hate to pay the bill for that job.

First off, thank you for posting those photos. THAT is how guns used to be finished "back in the day". The front end of that thing looks just like a 1940 Ford. SMOOTH. I gotta ask, safe queen?

This is my high-polish blued Cimarron (Fancied-up Armscor) 1911 in .45acp

It's pretty difficult to get good photos of it, the bluing is like a mirror

WC145's has been my favorite 1911 of all time for quite a while now :D

I love me some shiny blued shootin' irons. Please keep 'em comin

Thanks!

iLikeOldgunsIlikeNewGuns - Is that the factory polish and bluing on your Cimarron? It looks great, I like the bare slide.

KAS1981 was the S&W 29, I need one of those to go with my 629 :D

Yes that is the factory polish/finish on my Cimarron, which is a large percentage of why I decided to buy one. Though after I got the factory grease off the gun I noticed there were definite flaws in the bluing on the slide - permanent droplet marks all down the side from some spill or contaminate in the process. So after calling Cimarron the slide went back to Ford's in FL for a re-blue. Took about two months to get it back, but it looks great now. I shoot it often and carry it often, in rotation with my other 1911.

The right side of the slide is blank, the left side has a subtle roll-stamp as seen below, it's usually hard to see that it's even there, the angle of the photo helped make it 'pop'

(leapord print lamp-shade reflected on gun as well)

OK WC145, I will admit that I have visited this thread JUST to look at that gorgeous gun. Absolutely amazing finish.
