What is the going price for once fired 308Win Brass?

How much do you have?

Usually around 20-25.00 per 100 before shipping. Depending on how much prep is done, such as ready to prime and load would be closer to 30-40.00 per hundred.

.308 brass hasn't skyrocketed like 223 and 9, 40, and 45acp has.

I'm referring to .308 brass in general, not head stamp specific.

8 to 10 cents would be all I'd be willing to go. Fortunately where I shoot there is generally enough brass on the deck to keep many reloaders happy.

$12-25 is what I've been seeing. But I treat all used brass as range brass so wouldn't pay to much.

I agree with $20-25/100 if the brass is clean and not dented or squished. There's plenty of the milsurp stuff that's been shot through a 240 at really cheap prices but the good quality stuff is simply worth more.

About right. I paid $114/500 for once fired, decapped and cleaned, milsurp with various headstamps, from tjconvera recently.

Which works out to $40 to $50 per 500. When's the last time anybody saw it that low?

Question: should once-fired commercial .308 brass sell at a premium or discount relative to once-fired milsurp .308 (i.e., 7.62x51)?

I need some 308 brass... Where are you guys buying from?

August of 2012, 7.62x51 once fired military (LC), 1000 count, deprimed, sized, primer pocket swaged. I paid $125 shipped. About 80% of it was the same head stamp. Got it off the internet.

Pass on the GMM Fed brass.

Match it isn't. The term Match implies it is lovingly and meticulously prepared to the level of Lapua or Norma brass uniformity and quality.

In my experience Fed brass is exceedingly soft compared to Remington or other good brass.

Do what you want, but don't get all jacked up about the word match and one or two shooters...bolt gun... blah... blah.... blah...

It's soft brass and you will see the pockets loosen in just one or (if you are lucky) two firings.

Damned sure don't pay a premium for it

Hmmm...so for about the same price you have the choice of getting unprocessed brass with only two different headstamps, or an unknown mix that has had the primer crimp removed.

I think I would go with Widener's on this: you only have to process them once, but the benefit of sorting it into two big batches of same headstamp lasts for the life of the brass.

Once fired 7.62x51 GL-government liquidators, the contractor to auction milspec surplus. Currently once fired brass, mostly 5.56 and 7.62 but pistol also, is in process of bidding on line. One lot of 292 #/LC 01-04 in one drum is currently at $3.2/# at the auction site in Pennsylvania. This lot is clean-weight meaning the container and or pallet are not included in the bid weight, where most lots do no separate the tare/product The final 6 hours of bidding - May 14 @ 5pm becomes quite active for the popular 5.56 and 7.62. Cost for handling shipping and processing would be added to the final bid - then the retailer would purchase and add additional costs. End price?

Since Dec 2012 there have been thousands if not hundred of thousands of pounds of 7.62 auctioned. 5.56 is the hottest item a loose tracking of this has about 400,000 plus pounds auctioned total in the past 5 months. The non-popped/heated all goes for $3-7/#, while the popped goes for less than the current max yellow scrap price.

Who is purchasing these lots? One lot went for $100,000 plus. Not a co-op of avid shooters-reloaders. Have not seen the retail availability of 5.56 and 7.62 once fired DemilQ on the market of the recent past 5 months auctions total pounds. Perhaps the Jobber/wholesaler requires longer handling prep etc. Significant outlay-investment at the wholesale level to hold for a better market price may be, but spent brass is not gold. There are, perhaps unqualified and only in part, cloudy answers to the Who.

Where do you think places like Ultramax, Freedom Munitions, Atlanta Arms, and Precision Delta get there brass? That is who buys $100,000 worth of brass.

Think about Ultramax 223REM. It is going for $.75 a round in a lot of areas. Even with the high prices on brass they are still making money in this price environment.

Just picked up 1k .308 win brass from Colorado Bulk Brass for $190. Strangely enough, that's less than they want for .223 brass.

If anyone has seen any of my posts, you will know that im trying to get into this and am just learning so heres a question that might sound pretty dumb: just curious, how do you know its once fired? couldnt it have been reloaded multiple times and they just slap a "once fired" sticker on it? or can you just tell, once your experienced in this field?

Average is $.20-$.25 per case for unprocessed, but clean, military brass. If you process it, you can charge more. This is what the current market is bearing. Those prices include shipping.
