Fusion Firearms

Last I heard, Fusion was swamped with orders. Give them a call, and ask for an ETA, and as to why your gun wasn't done on time. Although I've never personally dealt with them, I've heard nothing but excellent customer service from them.

What did you have built by them?

I'd be calling Bob Serva and asking for something more firm. I've had a Fusion gun and dealt directly with Bob.
Of course, sometimes, custom builds can take more time than expected. I've had a revolver being built for my wife for two years now, but, in the 'smith's defense, I told him to take his time with it, no rush. I got the frame, cyl, etc from him a couple of months ago to send to be hard chromed. Mahovsky's told me 30 days, they called today (two months later) to tell me it was done and being shipped back. I had a gun with a 'smith being tricked out and he had a death in the family and a couple of accompanying issues that set things back quite a bit, it sucks for everyone but what are you going to do. Bob is a good guy, Fusion is a good company, speak directly to Bob and hold him to what he tells you.

I would go to Caspian the next time. I placed an order for a custom slide and frame in stainless at the beginning of March and it arrived a few weeks ago. They are also swamped but we're very nice each time I called and asked for a status. No BS, ever. Vote with your wallet the next time and be sure to let them know. A year is unreasonable.

That's all Caspian does. So if you want a complete custom gun, you can't go through them.

Ahh, my bad. I looked at fusion when I built my first one as a place to get the parts. I never paid attention to their built guns. Still agree with the OP that it's been a long time waiting.

Call him and get your money back. There are plenty of builders out there that have shorter wait times.

not really... most of your semi customs are taking 1-2yrs right now. Full on custom, once you get past the waiting list of 2-5yrs it will take another year or so... Im not so sure Id buy a gun from a smith who could promise me a quick turn around.

I recently recieved an Akai open gun, quoted a six month build time and recieved it in four. Not first hand, but Freedom Gunworks is in a 6-10 month window. Infinity recently upped there wait time to 18-24 months. So you are close their. I am sure that wait times for guns from Guildmember builders are out there in the time frame you are talking about, but race guns, no.

This guy was bashing Fusion on 1911forum, too and never posted anything after posting his complaints.

Me thinks we shouldn't feed the troll anymore.

Labeling the OP a troll? He's been a fairly polite one so far.

Rather than go into my Fusion experience, I'll just say I had every Fusion part and gunsmithing removed from mine and restarted the project with gunsmiths who did a great job.

Here's one Fusion effort objectively presented to see if you defend it. It's a 10mm barrel they installed:

He made an account (on 2 boards that I've seen) specifically to bash a brand, and hasn't returned to say anything else. So yes, seems like a troll to me.

Can't speak for the OP, but based on other posts and my experience, people react to the lack of acknowledgment of issues. I saw two faces. One when the order is placed and the build is ongoing. The other shows if things don't go well. That's where written, detailed instructions or mechanical goofs were, in my case, ignored and dismissed.

Mine has so many issues on top of the Dremeled barrel. Their response to hollowing out the chamber was, I should shoot .40 S&W level loads. (I have all the written, dismissive correspondence.)

An analogy would be where you give a written order for a $6 hamburger and you're handed a poorly made $2 chicken sandwich. Upon complaining you're told chicken is good for you, eat the sandwich. Then you're handed a bill for $6.

Might make a person upset and start posting to release stress.

I traded for a NIB Fusion 1911 several years ago. Beautiful gun, great finish, very tight, great trigger. Jammed every round.

I sent it back to Fusion and was accused of fooling with extractor. I told the guy that I hadn't done anything to the extractor. After some back and forth arguing, he finally said he would adjust the extractor this time, but next time it was on my dime.

I had higher hopes for a $2,000 1911. I didn't really like the attitude of the guy at Fusion either. I sold it after I got it back.
