Hello,

I have been loading up some 223 rounds for target shooting with my boys. Being rather new at this, I think I am very careful with every round I make and weigh every powder charge at this point to make sure they are the best rounds I can make. Also, I want to double check myself and get better at this. I keep the powder level pretty close to the same level by adding powder periodically to the powder measure.

I buckled the shoulder a few thousands on a case or two a while back and put a note on here on how to make sure it didnt happen again. I have that problem resolved now. I sort the brass by head stamp, make sure the cases were ALL trimmed and stopped crimping 223 rounds :).

Well, I had another issue the other night that I wanted to share with you. I'm going along, weighing every charge and all of a sudden I get next to nothing out of the powder throw. This happens several times in a row...

So, I put a container under the RCBS powder measure, and unscrew the green nozzle. A bunch of powder falls out that I catch in the container, along with a horse fly I had buried when adding powder. A fly in the ointment so to speak. Glad he didnt pass through the nozzle and into one of my loads.

Probably would have caused an unexplained flyer. :neener:Sorry...

True story, just when I think I have thought of everything... Anyone else here ever had such a problem, or is it just me :)

Unexplained Flyer! LOL! I love it! Bwahahahahaha!

Sometimes with some ball powder it will clot up in fairly large balls. I don't know why that is. So I have to sort of mash it up to get it to flow properly.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I would have stuffed it in the cartridge and shot it. I hate those things!;)

Me too. I have a friend that told me that when he dies, he wants to be cremated and for his friends to load his ashes into some 12 ga shotgun shells and shoot them out into the woods. Shooting his ash out in the woods sounded like a good idea to me :)

Speaking of insects in loads, my neighbor found a deer tick on him, and decided he wanted to be an astronaut. He fit perfectly in the hollow point end of a 9x25 Dillon cartridge, he then proceeded to launch him into orbit. Probably the only tick in history to reach that high in his own little personal space rocket.

Now that there is funny. Sounds like something I'd do. LOL :D

When I was a Boy Scout I had an encounter with a horsefly while I was changing. Bit me on the left cheek. Hated them ever since.

Actually. that did happen to me years ago when loading 12 ga. on my Mec. He must have already been in the shot hopper, cause right after I filled it I saw the little sucker flying around in there, but I couldn't get him to fly back out, and I sure wasn't going to empty the hopper just to let him live. So I ignored him, he eventually ended up in one of those shot shells down toward the bottom of the hopper. Didn't notice which one, but I'm certain he got took flight one last time.

Could you shoot a bug hole with that load ?

I don't think you could put that round up a gnats a$$ at 300 meters wouldn't fit !
