I carried a S&W model 19 for a number of years.. to wide,, hard to conceal... uncomfortable carry.. its a great gun.. 357 is devastating.. but its also devastating to carry such a heavy weapon...every waking hour..
I got mine when the first ones came out. The concept of a 454 snubbie was so ridiculous, that I had to have it. It originally came with the Hogue grip, but the classic SRH looks, so much on it.
I have come to the conclusion that I like 4" barrels. Nothing longer, and not much shorter. I do have a 642-2 (S&W) with a 2" barrel for CC though.
Having said that, I did just realize that I have two on layaway, and both have shorter barrels. Go figure.
A 1952 S&W "Terrier", five shot, improved "I" frame, in 38 S&W.
And a 1992 Taurus 431, five shot 44 Special, with a 3" barrel that I stuck away yesterday.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures. Those two are going to be safe/range queens. I've got dies to reload for both so I'll shoot them, but I doubt I'll ever carry either. Got the 642 for that.
Gazpacho, I admire your penchant for the "ridiculous." No intense offended; you and I have a lot in common.
My favorite shorty is a DW715 with the 2.5" bbl. Handy that I can pop on the 6" bbl and have a whole different experience. Among other shorties I like the 310NG (10mm).
fave is probably the SP, .357 punch and pretty controllable
I'm lusting after the Ruger Alaskan (like I need one ). I think it would be the .460 though, a sawed off .45-70 for a sawed off wheel gun.
Mine is a Taurus, model 455. Stainless steel, 2 inch, snub nose with ported barrel, 5 shot, 45 acp.
It is 45 cal , manageable to shoot and scary accurate...it groups better than my 1911.
