    Mauser bolt issue

Here are pics of the parts in question. As you can see the Siamese Mauser is different than the 98 Mauser. So if any of you guys happen to have one laying around I am interested. Thanks.

    Mauser bolt issue

OK you Mauser nuts, I just got some bolt parts from GPC for my Siamese Mauser project. Problem is the cocking piece locks on the firing pin 90° out of position for the bolt sleeve. As you may know the firing pin and bolt sleeve are slotted to prevent the pin from rotating. This is a pic with the...

    Hawken rifle?

Cooldil, Yes TOW does cancel orders they open for phone orders at 9am, call early in the day. The GPR to my eye is a closer representation of the hawken or plains rifle, hence the name Great Plains Rifle. The trade rifle is more styled along the lines of the T/C model of "hawken". I have a...

I got the loads from SPG"s primer by Mike Venturino and see no need to change. The lighter bullet loads do use more powder. To me she don't push all that hard using black powder loads. My .54 muzzleloader with maxi-balls and 100gr. of FFg has a noticeably heavier recoil and neither of those...

45 cal in a 50 cal muzzle? Can it be done?

There are .50 caliber sabots available for .452" bullets and there are bullet sizing dies for slightly larger lead bullets. Provided the barrel rate of twist is fast enough like 1:48 or 1:28 it should stabilize the longer bullets. Understand though muzzleloaders are finicky beasts and may not...

question is the 54cal muzzeloaders dying

The problem is a lot of the large "sporting goods" (read that as clothing retailers) do not carry anything but the high turnover sales items to make room for more products on their over diversified shelves. Another issue is the lack of the ever popular inline muzzleloaders in any caliber but .50...

    Latest BP project

The full length pics were already saved but I went and took more of the nose cap and lock. With a cell phone it only takes a few minutes to take pics, send them to email, upload to photobucket.com and then copy them to forum. When I can copy directly from my brain to the internet then virtual...

    Pewter nose cap pour

Pewter is pretty soft and easy to file and sand to shape. It does tend to clog files and sand paper quickly. Polishing is quick wit a buffing wheel.

    Pewter nose cap pour

Everyone gets to build an ugly gun. This is the completed first stock in case your interested (or not). I whittled it by hand and it was my first attempt at that frustrating little adventure. The butt extension is goncalo alves (Jobillo) wood added cuz I cut it too short :uhoh: and the buttplate...

    Pewter nose cap pour

This is a previous trapdoor stock I did. It is really ugly IMNSHO so re-stocked with that hawken stock in the black powder section. Anyway, poured a nose cap on it. Give you guys an idea of how I did it just for the un-indoctinated. In this one I incorporated the sling mount into the stock due...

Don't look too close at the inletting :banghead: I struggle with the real close lines. Pictures from a distance are best and if I can keep the gun moving while ya look at it that helps a lot too. But I'm trying......
