The sequel to a novel born on THR, MONSTER HUNTER VENDETTA, in stores this week

Congratulations on that feat! As I found out, breaking into the fiction business is next to impossible - I sure can't seem to get it done (though I'm often chastised about all my stuff being fiction). My best to you and I hope for your continued success.

I'm now a Dean - what guns would make it worth it?

Why not go all out and set yourself up with a fine investment. I'd find a good Colt Single Action Army, preferably in .45 Colt - a 1st or 2nd generation.

Should traffic stops be abandoned ?

Mr. Fink, Are we to gather from your rather haughty post that fecundity in law enforcement is something that doesn't interest you? Or is the rampant trodding upon innocent Americans by prosperous criminals something you find more charming? Bart Skelton

Should traffic stops be abandoned ?

You want order? Make people care about each other more. You want control? Pass laws I pretty much agree with the law passing part, but what are your suggestions as to the rest?

Should traffic stops be abandoned ?

A very impressive gaggle of comments on this subject. Many good points made. Regardless whether you are pro or con traffic stop, I believe they're here to stay, particularly in rural areas. As for departments using traffic stops as a revenue multiplier, I tend to agree with those who find it...

    Best Rifle for this situation???

Kentucky, The M1A is a great rifle made in a good number of configurations. I have experience with the Springfield SOCOM, which is highly compact and potent, as well as the Scout Squad. Problem is their higher in price than you're looking for. Check into DPMS Panther Arms. Great rifles...

    Thanks

Thanks Tony. Nemo's probably not happy with me currently as I've ignored his several telephone calls since his retirement. Haven't done it on purpose, though. We miss the ol' Captain.

8th Birthday. What gun for nephew?

Have you considered a Winchester Model 62A? A classic .22 rifle and as safe as they come. Pump with a hammer. It was my first rifle (I still have it). The ones sporting high finishes are pricey, but you can still find one reasonably priced if you're diligent. Plus you'll never lose money...

    Thanks

Mustanger98, Sure appreciate your readership. I suppose I'll keep writing as long as they let me. It's good to know there's someone out there reading that stuff. B

    Thanks

1911Tuner, Unfortunately, there is no complete Skeeter works available. Copies of his various books can be found on the web, though they're pricey. Thus our attempts to re-publish the Good Friends book. As I said, we hope to get this done before too long. It'll be a print on demand type...

    Thanks

All the kind comments much appreciated. We're currently working (not nearly fast enough) on re-publishing Good Friends, Good Guns and Good Whiskey. Hopefully it will be available in the next year. In the meantime, I've been trying to talk the magazine into re-printing a few of his old pieces...

    Thanks

Thanks for all the kind words. By the way, my dad wasn't slim and quick but for a few years, then developed a noticable belly himself for a while.

    Next gun? Gimme some ideas...

I think you should give careful consideration to a good revolver. The smoothest triggers I've ever fired have been on revolvers, such as the S&W 586, 66 or 29 . Of course, it would entail sending a stock gun to a competent action man for a little polishing, but well worth it. I believe every...

    Thanks

It was quite recently that I ran into THR site, and I was thrilled to see a number of threads pertaining to my late dad, Skeeter. I'd like to take a minute and thank all the readers and participants for remembering my old man. It's sure nice knowing there are a number of gun folks out there...
