My battery of "pocket carry" guns consists of a S&W J Frame .38, a Glock 43, and a M&P Bodyguard sans laser. I find that I carry the Bodyguard about 90% of the time. It's reliable, insanely accurate, and it only weighs 16 ounces fully loaded in a RKBA pocket holster.
I used to have an LCP. Found it to be a great little pistol...accurate and reliable. Bought a M&P Bodyguard .380 w/o laser and haven't looked back. Better sights...much more rust resistant...and just feels more solid than the LCP plus it fits in my old LCP holsters. Trigger pull is a little long...
My 2013 Vintage AO 1911PKZSE shoots the Remington UMC 230gr JHPs from Wallyworld all day long in the original magazine that came with the pistol. My owner's manual had the same warning about JHPs too.
