I hear ya, but... Jones's BLR trigger work is $120. He's expensive because he's the best at BLR's and that rifle is a complicated reassembly. Shipping $30-35 each way. If I love the rifle, never gonna sell it, and hunt with it for the next 20+ years, that's around $10 a year to have a damn...

Here's a Rem 7600 pump that started life as a 243 with 22" barrel that I sent to JES Reboring to make a 358. I chopped/crowned the barrel at 19.5", topped it with Talley Lightweight rings and Leup 1.5-5x Heavy Duplex. 7.286 pounds unloaded on my digital scale. I love the gun! ...I don't think...

Sadly, the only manufacturer left carrying the 358 torch is Browning in their BLR lever. I have one and really like it. Ruger stopped making 358's a few years ago. I have a Ruger Frontier and stainless M77 in 358. My Frontier is incredibly accurate with factory Win ammo and 2x scout scope...

I'm a HUGE fan of the 358! I think I'm up to seven rifles chambered in it. Levers, bolts, pumps, even had a semi-auto in 358. Very underrated cartridge. When it was released (1955 it think?) it was the start of the 'magnum' craze of more power, faster, longer, etc.... Being labeled a woods...

17HMR is a great round, and incredibly fun to shoot. Inherently accurate for some reason, even the cheap rifles shoot well. Right now Dick's Sporting Goods has a sale going on... A Savage bull barrel with laminated thumb stock AND included mounts with scope for $299. That is a DEAL...

Just a note about that... I've played with a LOT of Ruger 44's over the years. Original 44 Carbine, 77/44, 96/44, and Deefields. And multiples of each model. Some Rugers are shooters, others are not. Don't know why or what causes it, but be aware that sometimes you will run into a rifle...

I have several Ruger compacts and Frontiers. The Frontier is about the same as the compact except is has a heavier barrel that allows for the forward mount scout scope. The Compact is a JOY to carry, almost like carrying a BB gun. I have two in 260, plus one in 6.8SPC. I don't handload...
