As personal as "ol Rusty" apparently took my comments, this pretty much sums what I was saying.
As much as I find it humorous that guys get all excited by sarcastic comments, and then get pursued to the point of defending their "probably close to true" reloading costs... ol boy completely...
I spend more on shooting now versus before I reloaded for sure. Shoot much more now than before. It's 100% a con, nobody "saves" money by reloading. If I used to shoot as much as I do now, then yeah, I'd save over hordes of factory ammo (esp. handgun...) - but I didn't shoot a ton until ammo...
Yep, sierra guy here too.
Not that I won't rain on your parade. Nosler bullets are very accurate generally, at least their ballistic tip and custom competitions. As are Berger target bullets. As are a LOT of others - all of which depends entirely on what your firearm prefers as an...
As I recall, max standard loads in 38spl with 158's do not fill the case completely using unique...
...which is to say, as far as I remember (load 357, not 38 myself) you can achieve +P loads in 38 special with Unique presumably, there should be room. Great powder, ash-can that it still is...
I "benefit" from recovering a lot of aluminum and copper scrap from my profession in home exteriors. I trade a LOT of it for wheelweights at my local scrapyard. They really don't care what I'm using it for. Suppose I could have the "cash" instead but the trade-scrap is never in short supply...
Measure your "fireformed" (split) cases versus the unfired cases.
For all of our curiosities' sakes please post up what you find, but if you find a significant expansion in the fired neck OD, shoulder, etc, I'd be real worried about that chamber and consult with the manufacturer.
One type...
Agree totally with the rfwobbly's suggestion of starting with plated or jacketed bullets if you're entirely new to reloading.
FWIW, I reload virtually the exact same bullet for both a CZ-83 and a Ruger LCP. To the extent of my ability at least a load of 3.0 grains of W231/HP-38 at an OAL of...
FC = undoubtedly Federal brass.
- Unless it's old it's not Prvi (stamp: PPU) or Mexican... unless Federal has a brass plant in Mexico and in that case I'm disappointed but still stand by their brand name thus far.
- You'll note that the case capacity as-compared to Remington (RP) brass of the...
Craigslist. 25 bucks. Guy's Dad passed and left him some stuff he couldn't use.
Thing was dirty, well worn, and a little squeaky. Five years ago. It's not dirtier, much more well worn, and well oiled at all the formerly squeaky parts. And still running like a tank. Use it with...
For what it's worth I load a cast bullet that for all intents is exactly the same as the MBC you listed... shoot it out of an LCP and also a walther with great results.
Favorite load is 2.8gr W-231 for milder-mannered fare, and 3.1 is equally accurate of the same for a "more factory" feel...
This .pdf file at MidwayUSA.com is exactly what came with the Lee Pro 1000 I purchased 3 weeks ago, my 2nd. Not that the first doesn't still run great.

If you're running loads at 50-75% of max charge weight in any caliber in nickel-plated brass, and getting faster than max-load velocities, there's something playing serious tricks in your setup. And not the brass, nickel or not. As in your scale is scarily off and/or your chronograph is way...
