Amazing. A 1.62 length case length max?? Why are we electing people so freakin' ignorant who could think up such a law. If it where me, I would ignore the damn thing and use any cartridge you prefer.

Surplus Ammo
IF there was anything in the primers that was corrosive, the chemical reaction that will eventually produce sufficient damage to effect the performance of the weapon will begin immediately, but removal of the substance within a couple of hours after exposure should prevent any...
Brady/Background checks
If background checks and the so called Brady law are working so well, why is more difficult (and expensive) for me to purchase a handgun with a rap sheet consisting of 3 parking tickets since I became of legal age over 25 years ago, than it is for someone who has been...
Full Metal Jacket
There's a great scene in Full Metal Jacket where the drill sergeant explains USMC accuracy using Charles Whitman and Lee Harvey Oswald as examples of amazing shooting. Both men were US Marines. If you haven't seen FMJ, do - I used to work with a Marine and he said that aside...
My father acquired this German "Ortgies" pistol in WWII being carried by a German officer and the only problem I encountered with it was that the firing pin did not strike the primer directly in the center causing a misfire about every 5 shots.
I was told in one of forums the problem was...
Unloaded powder
The powder itself should be no problem as it has not been exposed to any element that might "contaminate" it some way. But the increasing the charge load has me a little concerned if you are not an experienced reloader and might possibly be increasing the charge by adding a...
Large Rifle Primers in Handguns
If you have to have the ammunition I would agree with NCsmitty, particularly if the loads you were using were near maximum. It won't cost you that much time and money to load several rounds at lower charge weights and if you see signs of pressure, back off. I...
Hand Primers
I've used both type of Lee hand primers,(I am of the belief, right or wrong, I can get a more consistent pressure when loading bench rest ammo using a hand primer than lifting up on the handle of a reloading press) the older one being without a tray or other device that allowed me...
Importance of Velocity
This is a question that has been argued and undoubtedly will be continued to be argued when the question of accuracy vs MV is concerned.
I look at it basically from two standpoints. Those being what are you going to be using the loads for, and how much accuracy are...
I believe someone in this forum correctly idendified the following German pistol often carried by German officers in WWII.
Deutsche Werke Akliengesellschaft Werk Erfurt.
Ortgies 7.65mm
I'm looking for a second magazine and cannot find anything with the name Ortgies sold by any US...
crimp
22 Rimfire ammo is crimped. Does that tell you anything? Be it a revolver or pistol, if one bullet moves within the case under recoil or any other forceful jolt, your pistol will likely cease firing. Not good. Always taper of roll crimp.

Thanks to all for your time and sharing of suggestions. I see it's time for a litte experimentation. Got both an air rifle and pistol and if there ain't no fountain of youth, the only alternation is a lot of practice. Thanks again for your time cheating techniques of which I'm sure I'll find...
Exact Picture at http://www.buymilsurp.com/ortgies-patent-765-pistol-deutsche-werke-erfurt-p-5015.html although I cannot tell if the one in photo has the "button" safety.

Ortgies
You're good. The word Ortgies Patent is also on the left slide and the number 40450 I found on the underside. I don't recall ever seeing a safety that functions quite like this one but most of my handguns are revolvers other than a 22 rimfire. Press the button and the back of grip...
Well I've finally got some additional info on the WWII German 32 APC officer's pistol. The following is found on the slide.
Deutsche Werke Aktiengesellschaft
Werk Erfurt. Also some kind of crest followed by the letters NPp. One the reverse side is what appears to be the capital letter N...
