Based upon YouTube gel tests.. for what that’s worth.. I use 90gr Sig V-Crown Elite Performance JHP. Shot a few hundred rounds out of two guns without a failure. Your results may vary. In the end, the 380 is a marginal defensive round.
When leaving California I never considered Colorado as an acceptable political environment, but like California, parts of the state are stunningly beautiful. New Mexico was a state which I crossed on the way to Texas. Lots of issues in New Mexico. Again, parts of the state are attractive...
Great discussion. It is clear to me that these specialty optics are not appropriate in most home defense scenarios. Also, inexpensive Thermal/Night Optics will likely fall short should you need them for this purpose. I’ll stick with a tactical light. I also have laser on my home defense...
My two safes are at the back of a single garage. Large metal cabinets next to garage door and more along one long wall. Pickup is backed up to garage. I can open two cabinet doors and no view of safes. Security cameras in this garage. This serves as my reloading room and the issue here is...
I read the same, but I purchased one of my safes locally and was told just to put the safe on the concrete. This might be something to be determined locally, or some safes might be less likely to rust, so best check with your safe manufacturer and local safe company.
I use a microwave, but if the oven is used, only low heat is needed. Of course the rod is better, but I didn’t want to drill a hole through two sheets 8-10 ga sheets of metal and possibly provide a route for water and fire/heat.
If power is available then use humidity control rods and if not, use desiccant humidity control packs. I live north of Dallas and have two safes, but only one has power.
Pocket carry 380: No
Micro-9 carry: No
3.6” 9mm carry: Enclosed Green circle/dot + weapons light/red laser + option for hand held tactical light (preferred). Light on my M&P makes holstering and shooting a better experience.
House Guns 4.0”-5.0” 9mm: Enclosed Green circle/dot and weapons...
New Holosun $1000 NV and $1600 thermal MSRP. Not cheap and still much larger than dot sights and battery profile is certainly not the same as a dot sight.
I think that having options is good. Rifle mounted night vision now pushes $1000, which isn’t a used car price, but it suffers from the same issue as a weapons light in that you must point the weapon at what you are viewing. If it also functions as a daylight red dot sight you can use handheld...
I never considered helmet mounted optics, because my chief concern is bang in the night quick response, but with the advent of more affordable rifle mounted smaller thermal and night optics, are such optics a reasonable addition to SBR, or PCCs for home defense?
