I am trying to keep the cost reasonable. I don't need a competition gun. I want to keep hunting with it and pass it on someday.
I don't mind sending it out for quality work.
I was given a pristine 90's Remington 700 ADL in .270 Win several years ago from an older friend who has since died. I harvested a doe and a buck with it this fall but ruined the barrel dealing with an obstruction (looooong story). I was sick over it!
It is a nice rifle, and I would like to...
I’ve purchased 2-3 complete PSA lowers on sale over the years, and they all have arrived in great condition with good assembly. I’ve used one of the complete PSA lowers quite a bit over the years, and it has been completely reliable.
The struggle is real. I picked up several AM and RRA stripped lowers for a very low price recently. Not sure what I will do with them, but they were too cheap and available to pass up. Don’t know what the future holds.
i watch the parts sales sections on forums and buy when new and like new...
I just put together a pistol a 6 weeks ago and do not find the brace uncomfortable or unwieldy to use. The design of the brace is important and should be considered carefully. I like it a lot.
I’ve had a Ruger PC carbine for several years. It has been totally reliable with Glock and Magpul mags and every type of ammo I have subjected it to so far. I find the iron sights awkward but accurate. I put a section of ladder rail cover over the receiver picatanny rail to prevent damage to the...
I just bought a Ruger American Ranch In .300 BLK a couple of weeks ago. I really like the rifle and caliber. I shoot and handload supersonic ammo so far. The rifle is compact, lightweight, and handy.
The bolt movement was sticky when I first got it but has smoothed out nicely with use.
The Gen...
I have never liked pulling the expander button through the neck when resizing rifle brass. It seems that it causes the case length to grow more than I want even though I carefully lube inside the necks. I hate trimming cases often. I thought about using the dies with neck bushings, but it...
I just bought a new Leupold VX-2 3-9X40 scope on a great Cyber Monday deal. Now I need to buy receiver bases and scope rings for my Remington 700 in .270 Win.
I have never understood or liked the dovetail style scope mounts. I have become pretty used to using the weaver/picatinny style rails...
I fired three rounds, one handload and two factory loads, without a problem this afternoon. The primers show strong indention. I’m going to chalk it up to a high or faulty primer. I’ll also have the bolt checked eventually. I understand disassembly of the bolt requires a tool.
The rifle in question is a Remington 700. It was purchased in the mid 90’s but almost never shot. I inherited it from an old friend a month ago. I bet he only shot 5 rounds with it (I was with him 9 years ago). It was clean and in 99% condition when it was given to me. I’ve shot about 20 rounds...
Interesting that several of you suggested a high primer. I had not considered that possibility, I seat the primers with a seating die by feel. Maybe so. I thought maybe it was crud in the firing pin mechanism or excessive headspace. The rifle was bought new in 1995 and hasn’t been fired...
