Carjunkiels1... I used that on my 7mm08 and also the 145. Both on all sorts of deer including big lowland red deer stags, like your elk. Always performed superbly. Terminal performance was superb. 145 was a little more accurate. I also have used the 150s from my 3006 on all deer, also very good...
I use my Labrador, she also is my duck dog. People make a big deal out of training their dog. I have trained a couple... They just do it! I am not sure if using them to recover a wounded animal is the same as hunting with them.
guys, i have to disagree with some of what you say. we can't simply say the 7mm08 is low recoiling... it is far more complex than that. I had a 7mm08 remmy model 7 for a lot of years. killed lots and lots of deer with it with various loads. But with a max load with a 145gr bullet it had very...
Very interesting thread. I would never try to dissuade a man from buying another rifle... In England I hunt deer between muntjac and red stags. A lowland red stag is a very big animal... 35 stone... I use one rifle and one load for them all .30-06 and hornady 165 INTERLOCK. or geco 170 factory...
Good morning all, just back from a morning's stalking. Harvested a nice roe buck with an 80 yard atlas shot from sticks. The puppy was with us and was quite happy with the shot. Deer clearly DRT...the rifle is in the picture so you can get a grip of the scale.

When I hunt all up to large red deer i take my hunting knife which is 5 inch blade. A Gerber ezi zip... Superb. And a Gerber ezi saw also a superb bit of kit. I take a rope to hang the carcass in a tree to bleed out whilst I go for the truck.
If I can't...
This doesn't happen very often. This is two parts of the bullet and some also exited even on the smaller piece some of the lead is attached to the jacket. Back in the day when I knew the theory but lacked experiences I would say it failed. Now I know it worked well. Sometimes this is what happens .
You need to establish a twist rate. It is pretty easy to do. Then look consider the best bullet for your job. I used a 100 grain hornady interlock. Number 2450. I used it effectively on deer. Very accurate indeed in my rifle.
cull buck
Hi Pato,
The cull buck is an animal that is not the dominant buck in a territory, it maybe that he is a yearling or two year old or one that is "going back" or past his prime. If you cull a few of these animals every year it has quite an interesting result in that the does feel some...
