I tried too! Ive been through several and just cant shoot them as well as other guns. It seems as though you have to spend $1200 or more to get one that a $500 anything else gets you. I recently bought an M&P 45 and replaced the striker block and sear with Apex parts and for right around $700...
Great choice on the M&P22. I have nothing against the Ruger target models but the M&P22 is going to give her the feel of typical automatic that you are hoping she will transition to.
I have owned a few HKs both fullsize and compact. I still like them but at the price point I feel the M&Ps made by S&W are impossible to beat. Throw in an Apex sear and striker block and you really have something special.
What makes the 1911s trigger is its ability to be made great. Like Jim said the trigger on your everyday 1911 can be heavy, gritty with lots of creep. There is more then one way to skin a cat and some people might consider a different system to be better for their particular needs. The Glocks...
I wouldnt call the 22/45 lousy either, for what its intended purpose is, im sure its a fun target gun! I went ahead and put the S&W22 on layaway. I decided that not only would it be fun and cheap at the range but its probably going to be my truck gun. I know its under powered as a self defense...
Well if its reliable, fun and is slightly more accurate then the mosquito then I dont see what more someone could want out of a 22lr except maybe a match gun or something like that. The Mosquito was alot of fun but it only came with one 10 round mag which ment I was spending more time reloading...
Yes I believe it is made over seas by the same people behind Walther. I too have heard bad things about the Walther P22 but im thinking the M&P is held to a little higher standards.
Yeah im just looking for a fun gun thats cheap to shoot. My carry gun is a 1911 but I want something a little different but still has an everyday autoloader feel to it and with that said im not really looking for a conversion unit for my 1911. I like the Ruger MK2s but not so much the SR22s...
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I had read alot of stories just like yours on the Mosquito. The one I bought my dad was used and priced just right so I took the chance. I have also read where some people have bought them and had zero probs or that they get better the more rounds you feed thru...
Looking to buy a new 22LR auto and have narrowed it down to these two. I bought my dad a Mosquito sport model and absolutely love it but before I buy another I am curious about the new Smith &Wesson M&P22. The Mosquito I know has a bad rep but mine ran flawlessly with Mini Mags as per...
Ive shot it in my AR on a couple of occasions and it was fine but messy! It left behind red specks of crap all in my bolt carrer and inside the bolt itself. Im guessing it was primer sealant?!?!
I dont think you can add a dust cover after the fact. FA and dustcover are mil-spec the other way is not. One note on the forward assist, you can use it if you want to quietly load a round by riding the charging handle to chamber a round and then taping the FA to make sure its seated.
Im no one special but I wouldnt own one that didnt have the dust cover, its important to keep the dust cover closed to keep crap out of the bolt when its not cycling. However, I dont like the forward assist and I dont think its a good idea to try and force and round in the chamber that doesnt...
