    need help deciding

The Warrior was built for the Marine Corps Spec Ops guys, it is maximized to be a CQB pistol. The Raptor is basically the same gun maximized to look good (and shoot good as well,) functionally the guns are very similar, the Warrior does not have the "Schwartz" saftey other than that they are...

    best all-steel Commander?

It isn't a true commander size but I like my Kimber Pro Raptor.

    Need small 9mm sugestions

Except for the price point I would say a Rohrbaugh. You may be abloe to find a used one for the mid ot high 600's. About the size of a Baretta .25 with 6 9mm rounds on tap. Great pocket gun.

    Removing Grips

If it is a 5 pointed star you need a torx driver. I don't know the size for SA but there are many reasonably priced multi bit gunsmith driver sets available at Cabelas and Midway. I envy you, I am eventually going to get a set of her grips for my 1911. Enjoy, shoot safe, shoot often.

Why doesn't the .45 look more powerful than the 9mm on paper?

Instead of looking at the gross energy of the projectile look at the energy it deposits on or in the target. The .45 deposits the vast majority of its energy on the first thing it hits, the 9mm tends to go through and not deposit as much of its energy.

New(ish) Kimber 1911 Owners Sound Off!

I have bought 4 in the last year, an Ultra Carry II that I have since sold, a Pro CDP II, a Pro Raptor II, and an Eclipse Target II. I have put about 1800 rouunds through the CDP, another 1300 out of the Eclipse and about 1000 out of the Pro Raptor. I had about 300 out of the UC before I...

    Gun fun for girls

Charcoal Briquettes. Hit em with a .22 and they turn into a puff of black smoke. Cheap clean and biodegradeable.

    Bianchi retention holsters

My daily carry rig is a Bianchi Model 82 Carry Lock. I have 2 of them one for my prosize Kimber and another for my BHP. They work great, pretty close to as fast as a non-retention and it is going to take a lot of work to get the gun out of the holster with out releasing the lock. The...

What digital camera do you use?

Canon Rebel XT. What you want to use it for will have a huge influence on the camera you buy. Kind of like a .22 is great for a plinker but not so great for personal defense. Good Luck.

Do you use your everyday carry holster in IDPA competition?

I as stated earlier use the same (type) of leather for IDPA as daily carry, in case of autos a Bianchi 82 carry lock for the 1911s and BHP; and a Serpa for the XD. I have found through some research that my time for 2 shots in the COM of target is just about the same for both Pro sized 1911s...

Do you use your everyday carry holster in IDPA competition?

I carry a Kimber Pro CDP and shoot IDPA with either a Browning High Power or XD 45 Compact in ESP, a S&W 686 in SSR, and a Kimber Pro Raptor in CDP. I prefer the Raptor as it is effectively the same gun as my CDP but with a Steel frame.

    Now THIS annoys me......

There is a side to this we have not looked at yet. Sure it is ugly but think of a cop (or one of us) confronted by a bad guy with a BLUE gun as they suggest is available. It would be reasonable to presume that this was a practice inert shape and not be ready for a bad guy with a real gun...

Loudest gun you've been around or fired?

Let me add my vote for the 16 inch naval rifles on the Iowa Class BB's. I was aboard the Iowa when they did a full 16 inch broadside, 9 16"/260mm 50 caliber guns going off at once is pretty impressive. The projectile, it is hard to call a 2200# shell a bullet, has an effective range of 20...
