How do you go about choosing the scope for you? Personal requirements welcome.

I'm relatively young and new to scopes myself, so consider this when reading the following. I've shot at least a dozen rifles with scopes of varying quality, but have only purchased one scope myself and am in the process of choosing a second one for another gun. I personally find choosing a...

    New Gun Safe..will not open..???

Glad to hear it! This makes me wonder: if there was a major earthquake, would a bolted down safe be shaken up enough that it could not be opened by the owner? Considering that after such an event is the very time the owner may need to access the contents, this is an important question...

    Scope Suggestions

As a rule, the scope should cost at least as much as the rifle. I'm currently putting together a tactical Remington 700 .308 rig and I spent more than three times as much on the scope as the rifle. I'm not saying that's necessary for you or others, but don't put a junk scope on a nice rifle...

    Gun safe purchase

I would definitely go for the AMSEC BF with the 4 gauge liner, but I would buy from a local dealer who will deliver, install, and bolt it down. You may need it serviced and/or moved in the future and you need a professional for these things. A local dealer should be able to come close in price.

Thoughts on New USA made Winchester Pony RSC?

a1abdj knows what he's talking about. Are the pictures posted all Winchesters? Are they the new models? I must say that I wouldn't have recommended Winchester in the past, but these new models look decent for the price, at least from what I could see. They are made in Ft. Worth Texas by...

Thoughts on New USA made Winchester Pony RSC?

Hi all, I have a friend who's interested in getting an RSC for his burgeoning gun collection. (Nothing high value, but he has a few decent firearms.) He wants to spend around $1,000 and I suggested the new USA made Winchester Pony RSC. I've seen the 19 in person and the quality seems good...

    fort knox defender--vs???

With a $6,000 budget you should be able to get an American Security RF 6528 delivered, which is a TL-30 rated safe and a great value, in my opinion.

RSC Decision - AMSEC or Sturdy

SafeGuy, My dealer has been trying to order me a BF with the 4 gauge. liner, but he hasn't been able to talk with anyone from AmSec who is aware of the upgrade. Could you either private message me or post the name and/or contact info of someone at AmSec who could get this done for me? I'd...

RSC Decision - AMSEC or Sturdy

The thin gauge body is the weak point on the BFs. A 4 gauge liner is a game changer and makes it the best RSC on the market in its price range, in my opinion.

    Thanks a bunch, SafeGuy!

RSC Decision - AMSEC or Sturdy

Does anybody know when the 1/4" body for the Amsec BFs will be available?

RSC Decision - AMSEC or Sturdy

I went through this same process around five years ago and also in the last month. Based on my research at the time and now, I think that the Sturdy and the Amsec BF are at the top of their class in this price range and you could do a lot worse for the same, or more, money. That written, I...

    Wristwatches and shooting

I wear automatic or manual watches everyday (I'm a desk diver, so no danger there) but if I'm shooting or golfing, it's quartz for me. I have no personal experiences, but I have heard from watchmakers and watch enthusiasts that these activities can damage a watch and it makes sense to me, so...

Ammo Shortage merged threads, aka UberUltraMasterAmmoThreadOfPower

Everyone keeps posting about how cheap online ammunition is. From what I've seen and based on gun-deals.com, even junk ammo is more expensive than Walmart's WWB and Federal bulk packs and that's ignoring shipping, which is not insignificant. If I can indeed buy equivalent ammo (WWB, Federal...

Anyone sense the furor dying down?

Around here Walmart's ammo shelves are still empty and gun store ammo shelves are pretty bare too. Guns and magazines seem to be a little easier to get compared to a month or two ago, but shelves are still pretty bare. I don't see things really slowing down much and the tax rebates will keep...
