    ProMag magazines

I had a bad experience with Pro Mag magazines for a Beretta .45 Cougar a few years ago. They stood by their product and replaced the mags, but that didn't cure the issue. Factory mags were better, but the gun still hiccuped occasionally. I eventually sold it. The only 45s I own now are Kimber.

The logic of "A gun on/in my nightstand"

Ok, the spurs thing was uncalled for, unless you're advising a waterbed owner, in which case it's truly funny... Anyway... my system is this. Two dogs downstairs that bark their heads off at any intruder, awakening yours truly. A small, quick-opening hangun safe directly beneath me, tucked...

    Which .40 S&W should I choose.

My personal choice is the H&K P2000. It is, without question, the most reliable semiauto pistol I have ever owned. YMMV.

    Self Defense In An Apartment

Whoever first said 12 gauge with no. 6 birdshot was right on the money. Make that an 18-inch barreled 12 gauge, and practice with it. For folks who may be a tad shy on recoil/muzzle blast, a 20 gauge will work just as well. I actually have one of each ready to rock at home... in different...

    Lost a Kahr cw9 Friday

Thanks for the warning. I'm picking up a new MK-9 Elite tomorrow and will definitely -- based upon my wife's attempt to swipe the S&W 642 I brought home a couple of months ago -- be sneaking the Kahr into the house.

    .357 recommendation for beginner: S&W 686 or Ruger GP-100?

I don't think you can go wrong either way -- except for the new lock nonsense. You'll save money with the Ruger.

"Bulge carrying" is the best of both worlds

And your chances of being shot first may well be higher if certain types of felons KNOW you're armed.

"Bulge carrying" is the best of both worlds

Like so many of these discussions, things are getting a little silly here. Whether you carry openly or not depends on what's legal in your area and what your own preferences are for carrying in a particular environment. That can change as often as you change your clothes or switch from day to...

    LEO's and Citizens

Regarding the assertion that most cities have great police departments and will have units on the scene in minutes rather than seconds, that's simply the dumbest rationale I've seen yet for opposing CCW. Facts: 1. The broad generalization that units will be on the scene in minutes (let alone...

.38 Special range ammo hard to find...

Let me know how that PM9 works out for you. I'm picking up my new MK9 Elite in a week and will be breaking it in, as well.

    O/U Dont like'em

Over and under... side by side... semiautos... The choice is clear. Own several of each. Actually, I'm only half joking. The problem with questions like this is that they imply that our choices are always competitive, rather than additive. It's much the same with caliber debates...

Best CCW Holsters for MK9, PM9, Etc?

I'm picking up a brand new Kahr MK9 Elite in a week when the clock ticks down and am looking for a good holster for CCW. I'm partial to IWBs, and am looking for recommendations/arguments for/against your favorite holsters for crossdraw, 2-3 o'clock, SOB positions, etc. My top three concerns are...

Your Picks in .45 for CCW??

I'm sure he knows a few... I've sent him links to this thread and I'm sure he's checking it periodically while travelling. A LOT of good recommendations here. Now I'm gonna go off and cause trouble by posting a thread with a request for holster recommendations for something else...
