    Zanotti safe? Good/bad?

I have one with a mechanical lock. Went together fairly easily and seems very sturdy (I bolted it to my basement floor). If I needed another safe for any reason I would by a Zanotti again. Plus they were good to work with.

Source of hardcast bullets for hiking

Probably nothing is wrong with that bullet. It has sufficient hardness and will likely work fine.

Source of hardcast bullets for hiking

Anyone understand the difference between these two Rimrock bullets, both 200 gr., same length, and same meplat. The lower BHN (15) is labeled as the Outdoor model and is more expensive. That one is listed as TC bullet, while the other is a TSH. Anyone understand the distinction between the two...

Source of hardcast bullets for hiking

Grizzly Cartridge doesn't sell 10mm bullets only, unfortunately. At this point Badman, Rimrock, and Montana Bullet Works sell what I am looking for. Will appreciate suggestions for any other companies. That's why I was hoping to find more manufacturers than MBW. Their meplat is .325, the...

Source of hardcast bullets for hiking

Interestingly, using Hodgdon's reloading data for an XTP bullet, which I assume is the closest to a wide metplat lead bullet, at 1170 fps and 37K psi, I would need a 28 BHN bullet. That is higher BHN than I have seen on any site. So what is the baseline hardness that is sufficient? BHN of 16?

Source of hardcast bullets for hiking

Yes, I have seen bullets like those, with a BHN of 16, and it begs the question "How high of a BHN is necessary for deep penetration?" Some of the hard cast bullets marketed for tougher animals seem to have a BHN of 20-22, as in the ones I referenced or those by Double Tap, yet I have seen where...

Source of hardcast bullets for hiking

I want to source some 200 grain hardcast, wide meplat bullets for use in my Sig P220 10mm when hiking. I have bunch of bookmarks to bullet manufacturers, but most that offer 10mm bullets are meant for target/competition. They don't have the hardness or wide meplat for defense of tough, four...

How long of concrete screws/anchors for safe to concrete?

Well, I bought 3/8" x 4" tapcon screws. With my hammer drill and masonry bit I drilled 3.5" into the concrete and didn't poke through. I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't realized the 3/8" holes in the bottom of my safe were not big enough for the 3/8" Tapcons because of the width of the...

How long of concrete screws/anchors for safe to concrete?

I am wondering if 3" screws will work (like these). I am looking for a screw not wedge for ease of installation and removal (as I am in a rental house). A 3" screw will be mounted about 2 1/8 - 2 1/4" in the concrete (considering the 3/4" plywood the safe is sitting on) and I am wondering that...

How long of concrete screws/anchors for safe to concrete?

I want to bolt my safe to my basement floor. I will be using a piece of 3/4 treated plywood for the safe to sit on, sized 1/2" over the safe's footprint. Counting the thickness of the bottom of the safe and 3/4" plywood, how long of 3/8" concrete lag screws will be sufficient to keep the safe...

Non-flaring Dillon powder funnel for loading 9mm

Can't you just back out the powder die so it only dispenses powder and not flare or expand? I have read of others using a Lee Universal Flaring Die fitted with an NOE Expander Plug, and recommending backing off the powder die so it only dispenses powder.

Looking for an approach to trimming new revolver brass

I hear what you are saying. You are reinforcing the opinion that case variation can have an effect on accuracy and pressure. But what if I measure all the cases and group into ranges? If I were going to trim, I would have to measure the cases anyway to identify the shortest case. If instead...

Looking for an approach to trimming new revolver brass

Thinking about this issue more and doing more reading, I really don't want to trim cases, particularly if I purchase 1000 Starline at once, which is my plan. I am not worried about the loss of accuracy by not having a uniform crimp on each case, as I question how significant it is. I am not...

Looking for an approach to trimming new revolver brass

Some of you suggested trimming to the smallest case length. However, as in the example I gave the shortest is below SAAMI minimum trim lengths. You would go below to get uniformity?

Looking for an approach to trimming new revolver brass

So, if I understand you correctly you would take any brass over the SAAMI trim length of 1.275" and trim to that length. Anything down to the minimum SAAMI trim length of 1.265" you would include too, thereby having a range of brass length within 0.010", or between the SAAMI minimum and...
