i used to have one of those. Star 30MI "StarFire".................i kinda wish i didn't sell it now.....:( it was a fun gun. Well...........at least it's still in the family. It's now my Uncles.

i have a couple of single shot 12 gauge NEF's i got as gifts that work great..........!:) But that's about my experience with NEF's.............The others look like decent shotguns to me though.

Beautiful shotgun ! like has been said, made for moving targets.......especially those tasty flying creatures!:) Don't know why anyone would modify one though...............?? Your best bet is to ask the F-I-L why it was modified. Either way.............shoot it well and shoot it often!

As self defense against "People" yes a carbine is the way to go............BUT if you are in a actual survival situation such as a "Natural Catastrophe" where surviving nature is,<or SHOULD BE!), your first concern...............i'll take what is more multipurpose such as that JIC which floats...

i concur that a rifle is superior to a shotgun in most circumstances. i also consider myself a rifle aficionado................BUT the thread was about "Shotguns" in a "Katrina type Scenario".....<flooding, lots of rain & water, a very good chance of having to tread or swim etc......).......so...
