    Largest caliber you own?

I have not finished it but I have a Bauska action, stock, barrel blank, reamer, dies, and brass to build a 550 magnum. https://470mbogo.wordpress.com/big-bore-compendium/550-magnum/ I was originally going to do a 505 gibbs, but I figured this way if I run into someone that says they have a 50...

    7mm Creedmoor——-who’s in???

I am interested in doing a 7mm SAW, but it offers so little difference between 6.5cm and 308 that I can't justify putting money or time to the idea until I wear out my 2 6.5cm barrels. I can't think of a compelling reason for a 7cm.

Help me understand... a 10lb rifle 'worth' it's weight in gold?

The top of my list for stuff I want but don't need is a nice big bore double rifle. I have come to terms with the fact that I'll never be able to afford one due to the other hobbies competing for my interest so I am slowly putting together a 550 magnum bolt rifle.

Rifle optics: a blue collar spending perspective for cost / benefit

One of my favorite scopes is an old simmons 6.5-20x40 that I paid like $120 for many years ago. It unfortunately lacks target turrets or a moa reticle, which kind of limits its utility, but otherwise I can't really tell any difference between it and some of the $500-1000 varmint scopes I've...

Rifle optics: a blue collar spending perspective for cost / benefit

I've had $50 scopes and $2000 scopes and I guess I am just not an optics snob. Setting a target to spend on anything is stupid to me. I shop for quality and features, not trying to meet some arbitrary dollar figure that the internet thinks is appropriate. I certainly understand if you only...

7.62 Yahweh cartridge, is anyone familiar with it?

Just to clarify, are you saying you get a 5-8 grain increase in H20 case capacity after fireforming X39 brass, or when using fireformed 6mm ppc brass compared to standard X39 brass? A 14-22% gain in case capacity just from blowing out the shoulder seams a lot.

    Shortest Practical Length for 7.62x39

If you were going any shorter than 16" I personally would get a 300 blackout instead. I have a 10.5" 7.62x39 and a 300 blackout sbr also and the muzzle blast on the 7.62x39 one is ridiculous. That is kind of what I was going for with it though. The shorter and shorter the barrel, the smaller...

    Who Designed the M1 Carbine

There is one person who I don't think gets nearly enough credit for in the M1 carbine. John Garand. Yes I know that he didn't actually work on the carbine, but the carbine is basically a shrunken and simplified M1 garand. For some reason though its always discussed as if Winchester or...

    Improved M1 Carbine (update)

I've always thought that the perfect round for the M1 carbine would have been 300 blackout. A 110 grain spitzer at about 2400 fps would have been a nice bump in effective range and power, and I bet it would have made the m1 carbine a more accurate and reliable weapon to boot. If they had done...

    Silencers - Why?

The biggest benefit for me would be the recoil reduction without the obnoxious muzzle blast of a muzzle brake. I like short compact rifles so I tend not to use them much on rifles. Mainly just on pistol caliber SBR's and 22's

Does anyone still carry an LC9 or LC9S?

Love them. LC9s pro in a pocket holster is my most common carry. When I belt carry its a ruger max 9 with an LC9s slide on it.

Any opinions on the .30 Super Carry cartridge

No personal experience but apparently I'm not allowed to like it. I found out on the internet.

    I need a .40 S&W - Sig 229 (just thoughts)? or a Glock 23

I wouldn't know, I only know of him because I've bought tanfoglio parts off his website. https://benstoegerproshop.com/

    I need a .40 S&W - Sig 229 (just thoughts)? or a Glock 23

I agree, I will take a well used glock over a new one any day. Someone else has already put in the expense of breaking it in for me. When I put together polymer 80's or even PSA Daggers I buy used glock triggers off ebay. They are way nicer than any of the new trigger parts kits I've tried...

    I need a .40 S&W - Sig 229 (just thoughts)? or a Glock 23

I like the point he made about becoming proficient with a 40 makes you a more proficient shooter when you go back to 9mm because it instills some technique around grip and recoil control that you might not realize you are missing if you only shoot 9mm. I believe that is true. Besides for that...
