    Tacticool rimfire thread

You can't be a gun fan, and not love anything in .22LR. You can literally shoot all day for pennies. My girlfriend, who is not as gun buff, can shoot my 597 and have fun, then pass it off to me and have just as much fun myself. Everyone should own a good .22, at least one. All these .22...

Best light .308 for the buck? Tikka?

The new Savage composite stocks are much better than before. Compared to a friend's Remington 770 (which is junk IMO) the savage is nicer hands down. Even the cheap Savage axis series seem to be relatively sturdy, although I've only handled them, not shot them. I've handled Tikkas, and...

    284 Winchester

I killed my first deer with my late grandfather's m77 in .284, its a beautiful gun. Its a good round, it just never really caught on. In my opinion it was just too close to a .270 in practice.

    Best small caliber "farm" gun

Thanks for all the replies, I don't post often, but the advice on this site always impresses me. The majority seems to like the 22mag, .17 hmr, or .22 hornet. He has a bolt action savage .223 (not sure of the model), also has a Savage 114 in 25-06 (which was my Christmas present to him 2 years...

    Best small caliber "farm" gun

I'm looking to buy my father a new gun for Christmas. He wants a small caliber gun to use around the farm. My family has a dairy farm with about 500 acres, and he wants something reliable, cheap, and durable, as well as being accurate. He wants something able to take out the various critters...

What kind of Dog do you have?

I have a 120 lbs female Rottweiler who is an absolute sweetheart and loves everyone. She loves other dogs, and is great with kids. I've actually never met a mean Rotty in my life and I've been around a few.

Range Report: 30-06 and .17HMR with Pics

Just for fun, make sure you include a 5 shot group at 100' from the AK :D

Can heavy recoil cause serious injury or is it just a phobia?

I'm not afraid of recoil either, as I'm sure most people are who visit this forum. I however am not a masocist, and I don't enjoy shooting any gun thats uncomfortable to shoot. Yes recoil can cause various forms of injury, acute injury is most likely from improper technique though.

    Goofy Gimmick or Great Gear?

It's a cool gadget IMO, but I doubt it's as useful as it's advertised to be. I have a gun cleaning kit in a nice wooden carry box that doubles as a rest to set a gun on. I picked mine up from Cabelas and it's pretty handy. It always comes with me when I shoot.

Range Report: 30-06 and .17HMR with Pics

Not to knock your shooting abilities, because I wasn't there, but the first picture really does look like 2 holes. Who knows though right? Maybe it's 5 shots, I believe you when you say you fired 5 times, it just looks like 2 holes :-P I'm a big Savage fan and I've heard a lot of good...

    308 Barrel Break in

Until someone has solid proof that "proper" barrel break in will make a difference in the long run, then I'm not sold on the idea. I'm not saying it is absolutely unnessicary, it's just not really proven at all.

    308 Barrel Break in

I just picked up a 10FCP HS, I cleaned it before shooting, and then followed Gale McMillian's advice http://www.6mmbr.com/GailMcMbreakin.html.

    AR-15 Range Report (pics)

That last target is a really nice group. 100 yards with open sights 16" barrell and cheap ammo... I'd be proud of that. I generally shoot 55gr Prvi Partizan and it actually preforms pretty darn well.

Black Rifle Good Buy Or Not

I'd pick up a Bushmaster AR for $700-750 as long as it's in good shape. My local gun shop is still selling them new for $860.

    .223 Savage Opinions

I have a 10fp in .223 (pre-accutrigger), as well as a 10FCP HS in .308, and a 111 GCNS in 25-06. All are excellent shooting guns. A 10fp in .223 can be had for pretty cheap too. The 12 series are pretty nice, I shot a 12bvss in 22-250 that was a gorgeous looking gun.
