If they were #10's I would.I hate having to pinch the #11's to get em to stay on.

All the Walmarts around here (Oklahoma) have remington #11 caps for $2.50 a tin.They are closing them out.

The barrel on the Cabelas rifle is held on with screws through the thimbles.

Could you take a new SS remmie 58 put a cartridge conversion cylinder in it and shoot modern smokeless loads in it? What if any difference would there be in stainless steels used in these guns versus modern guns cartridge guns?

I am not trying to bust your chops, but M1s require grease, not oil. If you are using a good heavy grease, then check the extractor as has been mentioned. Actually they require both but yeah I have a big ol tub of plastilube.

Yes sir the rifle is properly lubed.The rifle functions flawlessly.I just happened to notice the last two rounds dont land with the first six and the case mouths are dented.

I have a Garand that ejects the first six emptys in the 1 oclock position then the last two emptys in the 3 oclock position.The last two emptys have dented case mouths but the first six do not.Is this normal or not. Texoma
