Retirement: Shooting more, less, or the same as pre-retirement?

I will retire for a second time on June15th this year. I really hope to say retired this time and yes, I really hope to shoot more, time will tell. I say to all those who are retired or to soon retire, be safe, keep your powder dry, and most of all hold your family close because the future is...

I'd like to hear from members where the shelves are NOT bare

I was in Scheels, the one in Billings, MT last week. The pickings were slim then, but on tuesday I was back in Billings so I went back to Scheels again because Cabelas shelves were mostly bare except for some 45acp. There was plenty of ammo at Scheels in almost all calibars. I didn’t see any...

Anyone else carry a collapsible baton?

I also carried an asp baton, it was the 16 inch model. I was also trained as an asp instructor, for our department. The reason we went to the asp was two fold, it was easy to carry and it didn’t resemble the evil PR24. Thanks to the king incident the PR24 was not looked upon favorably. I had...

    Solar power help

I will have to go with the goal zero, it is a costly choice but, I have found goal zero plug and play features to be excellent. I am still using an escape 150 I purchased about 4 or 5 years ago. Goal Zero customer service is second to none. I will admit that I have purchased several goal zero...

plated 38 spl with no cannelure

I have loaded several thousand berrys plated bullets. I just use a middle of the range powder amount for lead bullets as suggested by the berrys website. I use little to no crimp depending on the calibar, .38, .357, .41 mag or 44 mag. I have found these bullets to be fine for punching paper but...

    Police Academy Memory...

Wow, this is an excellent topic, I started my 22 year career with a 100 man Police dept in 1985. I went to the state run Law Enforcement Academy for 12 weeks after working on the PD for about 13 months. The favorite menmory of our academy was being the first one on the skid pad of our group. I...

    Some old time Glock love

That is one fine Glock, I love my late 80s model glock. My first Glock duty weapon was a Glock 20, the 10 mm, what a boat anchor. Later my deparment switched to the model 22 the 40 cal, a much better choice in my opinion. I will never sell mine. I too believe if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

    Thinking of buying a Glock

I must say I carried the Glock 20 for several years as my duty weapon then my Department went to the Glock 22; the 40 calibar. I know my shooting scores went up and I didn’t feel like I was carrying a boat anchor like the Glock 20/10 mm. I still shoot the 40 cal/glock 22. I don’t really like the...

I Passed up the opportunity to shoot a nice bull elk yesterday morning at my house.

Great story, today I was out at a friends place, we saw about 60 Elk on the way to his house and lots of deer both mulie and whitetails. We can home without firing a shot. I agree with your choice not to shoot one in your yard. I too live in Montana, born and raised here. I still find more...

    Your "go to gun."

This is an easy one, my first duty gun. A Smith and Wesson model 686 no dash, 4 inch barrel. The trigger is so smooth. I started with the PD in 1985. I retired near the end of 2007. I had a great run and retired before I became bitter. Life is good.

    S&W M69 2.75" L Frame .44 Mag

I am trying to avoid buying another gun. I now have two girls in college and I dont want them saddled with debt. They are working but that is where my money is going, then some person has to write up a excellent report on his Smith .44 ( a gun I have wanted for many years in snubby form). I...

    Brass for .38 Special

Ok, I can see what the others who responded said. I would not reload them as the nickel plated can just be confusing to you. I suggest you just send all that evil nickel plated brass to me. I would be willing to do this for you at no charge. Really I mean it, I have reloaded some nickel plated...

    Snubby Curiosity

Kodefore, save yourself DO NOT start shooting any snubbie. Snubbie is bad, I have heard that people who shoot snobbies are not good people. I feel I must warn you, the road to snubbie is a bad place. I was lead astray by people who I thought were good people and they led me astray. Leave...

    LEO Buddy Scenario

I think there are a number of variables involved. I was a street cop for over 22 years I liked working the streets. In the situation described by the OP I would be the best witness ever. I have a firm belief that when off duty unless there is a direct threat to me or mine I will be the best...
