I'm back - what's left of me anyway

I have been working out of town the past 2 years and coming home on my days off which means I have to eat out most of my meals (I covered the northern/central California before my current work assignment).

Since the cities/towns I worked in have many good restaurants and I frequently traveled through San Francisco, I thought this wanna be foodie died and went to dim sum heaven but after 2 years of eating even good restaurant foods, it got old, not to mention the expense of $800-$1000/month.

My sister lives in the city I currently work in and I got to cook not only for me but for her family. Eating home cooked meals not only is more nutritious/economical but I lost over 20 lbs.

Can't wait to start a new job at home town and cook for the family. Maybe I will lose even more weight. :rolleyes:

Anyway, back to OP.

snuffy, good to have you back to reloading again and let us know of anything you may need. Heck, we PIF to strangers every week on blarby's PIF thread and why not PIF to a longtime THR member like you?

Thanks everybody for the welcome back. Things will get better the further I get into the cost savings battle. I definitely let things go far too long.

I'm the chief cook and bottle washer here, just me and rover. I do enjoy cooking, just not all the time. For those times when I don't have time to cook, or just don't feel like it, I fall back on quick stuff to heat up. I can't eat hardly any TV dinners or most of the frozen dinners, because they're loaded with sodium and fat. My strict diet because of #2 diabetes and heart disease makes my food choices pretty slim. I do cook large quantities at a time, saving one meal till the next day and freezing the rest.

I took the DVR back on Monday, will return the modem as soon as my son sends me one with the built in wi-fi through Amazon. My current router will then be obsolete.

If you have a smart phone and a large data plan you can make your phone a wifi hotspot and run your tablet/laptop etc off of that. I do it all the time, works great!

I have had to tighten the belt recently and its a struggle but you learn just how little some expensive things really mean to you in the end

For a good cause, hopefully snuffy won't mind posting his PM.

Lee 6 cav, 148 grain wadcutter mold, to shoot 38 special from my recently repaired M-10, M&P Smith. I slugged the new barrel, it's right at .357, so .358 should make for some accurate ammo.

Just FYI, snuffy has seeded pay it forward on blarby's PIF thread and while he is certainly taking proactive steps to improve his financial situation, I think well deserving of his years of contribution on THR. I have been the recipient of PIF from my shooting/reloading mentor and many other seasoned match shooters who simply asked to "pay it forward" when opportunity presents.

BTW, isn't the PIF notion what the "High Road" is all about? And I can attest, the goodwill extended usually return many folds. ;)

snuffy, since you cast, I can send you lead also.

My PIF is in response to generosity extended to me by Duvel who sent me A LOT of coated/plated/jacketed/premium bullets for comparison plated bullet thread (believe me, this saved me a lot of $$). When I offered to compensate him due to large quantity of bullets sent, he simply asked that I pay it forward. I am also PIF for kcofohio/lauderdale/Dudedog/Artofgolf and others who sent bullet samples for testing.

In addition to .38 Spl, perhaps snuffy will cooperate and post other calibers he reloads.

Since snuffy casts, maybe we can do a "Lead Drive". :)

If you have lead you don't need or can spare, PM snuffy.

Gosh,, sniff-sniff, HONK I don't know what to say. Thanks is such a small word when support like the above happens. I sure do appreciate it.

In my PM to BDS, I said that I have most of my needs met as far as loading is concerned. I needed a sizer in .358 because I included one in my original PIF of the Lyman 450 sizer I PIF'd. i thought I had 2 of them.

Oh, not being UN-appreciative, but I don't need lead for casting. I and an army of kids mined the backstop of my gun clubs indoor range. We got almost a ton of range scrap lead, very good alloy;

This the back of my Saturn Vue, headed home. That lead is very close to wheel weights, around 12-14 BHN;

As for the money department, my cable bill dropped from 180 bucks to 68 bucks for the internet. A slower TWC roadrunner would only save 5 bucks, so I stayed with what I had.

The only purchase I made in the last 2 months, (other than necessitates), is a renewal for my CCW with the Wisconsin department of justice. I was one of the first to apply back then, so they will be getting a lot renewals. They sent a letter with a code to do it online, it would have expired in December.
