That's not that many years before I got my Colt Combat Commander from a large Midwest distributor. The had an ad for them in Shotgun News and drove there on a Saturday afternoon, getting there about 20 minutes before they closed. It was part of a limited edition (200 in all),done up by Colt's Custom Shop. Tuned and accurized, Gold Cup trigger, and a MMC rear sight; it's my favorite 1911 of all time!

My requirements for a 1911 were made in USA and stainless when I bought this. Little did I know what the future would bring. I have to say this thing is dead on accurate and has the best trigger I’ve ever pulled. I love it. 96324-1911-R1-SS-96324-Profile-R-96324.png

My first was the Sig (GSG) 1911—.22. Decided I wanted a "real" one, got a good deal on a (Canadian) Para GI Expert. Didn't like the GI plain aspect of it, so made some trades and got my wife a new XD-S, and appropriated her Ruger SR1911 Commander. Liked the extended controls, but missed the balance of the 5" barrel. Sold it, and went without a 1911 for a few years. Browsing one day, found a new one that checked all of the boxes, and was directed to order it. Still haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but here it is :

I have a lot of 1911 types :
This was my fathers Match Pistol in the 1950s and passed to me in the 70s. I replaced the worn barrel with a Barsto and in 1981 had Hoag go thru the gun for the umpteeth time (by others ) since it was made in 1913 . It still is a tackdriver and my son's treasure .

This little guy is 100% reliable after having Heine parts fitted, I carried it from 1986-2016 and used it as a off side New York reload which Louis Awerbuck trained me to shoot left handed !

Crappy old cell phone pic of an S&W Gunsite edition 1911 Commander made of scandium I just had to have when they first were released, they gave me a good deal at the Gunsmith at Gunsite when I took a class there and tuned it up some 10 or 15 years ago. It is a great shooter and it interchanges in my Commander leather nicely I wore alot. . I still keep it around ready to go, my go to single stack 1911 these days. I have gone to a P 12 and a P 14 in .45acp , finally after I got them perfected..I won't pollute the single stacks we are showing off with them at this time :)

Here's one I hated. My 2nd 1911. Jam-o-matic. And dented EVERY brass it ejected. But interesting to look at. Not a slew of green guns out there. In 2005, traded it for a Taurus PT1911, which has been a great gun. Still have it.

I like my 1911s (have 27 at last count). Here are a few. First, a Nighthawk Falcon (top) and Dan Wesson Valkyrie:

When I carry a 1911 these days, it's most often the Valkyrie above or the DW CCO:

A Colt Anniversary (III) on the left and an Ed Brown Anniversary:

Top to bottom: CZ 1911, Norinco 1911, and DW A2 Commander:

Did I mention I like 1911s?

Yeah, I did kind of notice a certain proclivity for things 1911, especially after looking at your photos!

I might add, just from what I have seen, an outstanding collection at that!
