Welcome to DTIC-STINET (Science and Technical Information Network)
http://discover.dtic.mil/

This link contains reams of data on practically every military rifle going back to the M14. Want to know how gender and rifle stock length affect marksmanship? There is a study here on it (search term "M4 Carbine"). Want to know what happens when you fire and M16 and M4 barrel until they explode? That study is here too (search term "Rock Island Arsenal", item #19). Want to see a comparative analysis of the XM8 and M4 carbines? You paid for it as a taxpayer and the government has made available all unclassified info of these studies at the above link.

You'll need Adobe Acrobat to read the studies as they are all in PDF format. They also run the gamut (not just weapons). All I ask is that if you find a particularly cool study, you post the search terms you used to find it, the item number, and the title of the study so the rest of us can read it.
