Please excuse my ignorance. This is a ad ferom the local wantad:

Military Imbel Fal, .308 Nato, excel bore, pistol grip, 20 round mag, e-mail for pics, $695

Is Imbel the manufacturer? Any opinions on this rifle? Thanks Tim

Imbel is a FN licensed Brazilian factory that makes FAL rifles and other goodies.

It's really hard to say. It probably says Imbel on the receiver, but it may be an imported receiver assembled by Century's angry beavers for all we know. $695 may be a steal or highly overpriced depending on the specifics.

I'd get a closer look because if it is a legitimate 100% Imbel FAL made in Brazil, it's probably pre-ban to boot.

I have pics. Would they help determine anything? How do you tell if its made by the angry beavers? Would that make it not a good buy?

Get over there; NOW!

Check marketplace; a dsa stg58 is available for $500!!!!!

Huh? I see no DSA for $500. There's a Imbel STG but no DSA. It would have to be a completely beat up rifle, sold by a unknowledgeable family member who's down on their luck and needs cash fast for that kinda price.

Yes; that's it. With the 17" barrel.
My bad; confused and mixed description with another fal I had been checking on.
Still, I would very seriously look at this if I could afford another.
Considering the garbage out there for that price, this could be a REAL keeper!!! Still available.

Considering the Imbel reciever is $~250 after transfer, $100 for US parts, and like $300 for the kit, that gun's a steal even before you add the value of being assembled.

[Edit: Just to clear it up, this is for the STG on Imbel build for sale on the Falfiles]

Not Really.

Important stuff- Receiver, assembler, barrel length, metric or inch, etc.
MOST IMPORTANT- 922(r) COMPLIANT!!!! (7 u.s. parts!!) Illegal otherwise!
Actually, there's more to it than that; but it's a safe starting point!!

GET TO THE OTHER BOARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried the other board but for some reason I can't post pics. I just registered over there last night.

You could give them a link to this thread.

That sure looks like an Imbel commercial reciever in that pic. That would likely mean it was not built by Century, but was still likely built from a parts kit.

It could could have other issues. I'd ask the seller about the history of the rifle, who built it, exactly what parts are in it and of course, why they are selling it.

It could still be a good deal though. Ask the guys on FALfiles about what to look for if you want to go check it out "hands on".

TimH-

Unless you're a contributing member, no posting pics. (Gotta pay for that bandwith somehow.)

Need a few more pics such as a close up of the receiver, the FAL in total too. Does the receiver have an importer stamp to help id it as a Century or Enterprise build. Stay away from any Hesse rifles.

This rifle is for sale by a local guy not in the FAL board. The person selling it says it is completely made by Imbel with 6 US made parts not 7 like citizen said. I'll post a couple of other pics. I seem to be able to attach only one pic in my post. I tried holding down the CTRL key to post more than 1 pick but it doesn't work. Here is one pic:

Imbel gear logo reciever imported by PAC, thats a good sign. Ask him who assembled it, did he do it, did he order it out of SGN or did he have a smith custom build it?
Whats the model number? M444?

Kharn

PAC is strictly an importer. They buy parts and receivers directly from Imbel.

The M444s were built by Israel Arms International in Houston--I think they contracted with Liberty Armory to do the actual assembly.

The furniture doesn't look right for an M444 anyway.
