ALL HAIL THE GOLD BOX!
Not too many of these rolling around.
Smith K 38 masterpiece 5 screw goodness.
I drug out some other interesting smiths from my black hole and took pictures today. Ill post them over the next few days.
I have a pair of M&P's that should have red boxes with them but alas no boxes. I get tempted every time I see one on gunbroker to buy it just for the box
I kinda think that the M&P gold box is better looking then the K38 gold. The writing on the K-38 makes me think of the 60's for some reason.
Don't have my date book handy, give me a few and Ill get it for ya.
Seiko - my apologies, I should of prefaced my question with the warning "Silly arcane quiz for obsessive S&W collectors" or not posted the question and just admitted I was showing off revolver boxes - that is an early post war long action M&P, as is the red box, which is two piece. S&W used some of these red boxes in the early post war years, along with some left over pre-war hinged top red boxes. It isn't clear to me when the switch was made to the gold box. The S prefix serial numbers switched to the C prefix in 1948 for the M&P.
I've been trying to take a photo of a nice 22/32 Kit Gun from 1954 with its box but I can't get a photo that looks halway decent, if and when I manage it I'll post it.
Wow, I've heard of those Smith 'n' Westowns. They sure got lots of 'em.
Thanks, dtown240, for posting that nice picture- I haven't got one of mine. But here's my "IDPA" rig, with the four-inch .357 Model.
This will be my first picture attempt here. A Smith and Wesson model 66-1
A Ruger Single Six
A Smith and Wesson model 17-8
I've been playing around with a new camera and light box.
