Ok I made a post on August 12 (this year) asking whether or not Gander screwed up parkerizing my p17 bubba. The answer was a resounding yes so I went back to the store and they agreed with the assesment given here and redid the job at no cost (which is what they should have done since the error was theirs). Well I think the company they farm out these jobs to should be fire because I noticed that once again there were parts of the bolt that didn't seem to be parkerized. The posted photos illustrated what happened when I move the ejector slide and discovered a spot that wasn't done. Unfortunately this spot will always be visible because I cant get the bolt into the action with the ejector slide positioned so that it covers said spot (hope that made sense :). Do I march back to Gander and demand justice?

Related to this I think they may have screwed up my tigger assembly. Now when I open the bolt I hear a click (as if something is being disengaged) a second or two after the bolt is opened (incidentally I can't move the bolt till the click occurs).

Third question: sometimes the safety is a bear to release when it's set on safe. Is this a common thing with old Eddys?

Background: I had a competenent gunsmith rework the safety and trigger before going to gander. I never noticed this issue before going to Gander to have the gun refinished.

I appreciate your insights.

Thanks,
Crazy

Gander parkerizing

Hi. I park and hot blue full time, including work for the national chains. ( I swear I didn't do your gun!)If you're talking about the bare spot on the extractor ring, it looks like it was "Squozed" in a vise to facilitate installing the extractor. Or, maybe they got lazy and didn't remove the extractor and ring. As your parkerizing looks like manganese, I'd touch it up with a little cold blue and move on. I'm a little surprised they did the bolt face, I usually don't.

I can't see anything wrong with the Park job that isn't going to be normal wear after you open & close the bolt a few times.

As for the reluctant safety, I would check for sand-blast grit left in the spring & plunger tunnel, or possibly no lubrication when they put it back together.

GeorgeR - I thought maybe some cold blue would do the trick. I actually am very impressed with the rest of the rifle. So I do need to give whoever did it credit. It looks nice.

rcmodel - Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.
