While you are cooking out, golfing, spending time with family, etc.. today. Please take a moment and remember what today is all about.

Tip a beer or two back for our fallen brethren that aren't able to be here today.
It is because of their sacrifice that we are able to celebrate today as free men and women.

(maybe head to range to excercise the rights they secured for us.)

Stop at the National Cemetary and look over the stones. Think of all the thousands that paid thier way so YOU can be free today.

Just dont fly by the place at highway speed anxious to go to your activities so fast.

And then think of those lost to the Sea or destroyed either here in these 50 states or in a foreign land.

Finally, thank everyone you meet either a Vet or Active Duty for thier Service.

I always go out and shoot my M1 garand and my M1 carbine as my way of remembering them. Though I am having fun it is still a reverent activity. I even offer a 10% off sale on every purchase on my website on memorial week so that others may do the same. Anyone wanting to buy some reloading bullets on my website www.rmrbullets.com can get 10% off by typing "remember" without quotations in the coupon code until the end of the month. Kind of my way of helping others celebrate as well as honoring those that have gone before.

Across the road where I live, is Rose Lane Cemetery. This weekend it is adorned with American Flags.
Spanning across the Years, Decades, and Centuries, the Bravery, the Blood, and the Cost to Make and keep this Country FREE !!
I Salute each, and Thank each every one of them who gave their lives, and will be called to do so, in the Now, and Future.
My Father was a WWII Veteran.
I Miss Him.
So Today I carry His sidearm, that although bloodied, kept Him alive, from North Africa to Berlin.

Markallen, my grandfather probably fought somewhere near your father. Robert L. Norman, of the 166th (Newfoundland) Field Regiment, from North Africa, thru Sicily and on into Italy.

He passed away in January, and though I didn't see him often, I do miss him.

Remember them well.

It is the soldier, not the President, who gives us democracy.

It is the soldier, not the Congress, who takes care of us.

It is the soldier, not the Reporter, who has given us Freedom of Press.

It is the soldier, not the Poet, who has given us Freedom of Speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus Organizer, who has given us the
Freedom to Demonstrate.

It is the soldier, who salutes the flag; who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag, that allows the protester to burn the flag.

A moment of silence for all.

For some reason my service in Iraq never seemed to carry the same sacrifice as my grandfather's service on B-17 and B-29 bombers. At least in my mind it didn't equal up.

He passed away 5/22/08.

To All Of My Brethren-Past, Present, and Future~!

Thank you all for your honor, courage, dedication, and sacrifice for
our great country. Remember, as we know "Freedom Is Not Free"~!
May GOD BLESS America, and the many men and women serving in
theaters of combat; as well as those stationed in countries that
are considered "allies" to the U.S.

If anyone here hasn't been to the wall... Please go. I recommend dawn on a crisp, clear, winter Sunday morning. It is powerful beyond words.

These guys died for their buddies who stood beside them. I'm awed.

Actually, I just got home from the shooting range..... it was one of those days I really cherish....... there were two groups of high school age kids there with their parents. As I collect old world war II guns, I had a few of them with me. I taught the kids about these old guns and let them shoot them. Hopefully, they learned a bit about history. But I know they had a blast actually shooting guns that are older than their parents. We've got to teach the youngsters..... if you don't know anything about history, you are doomed to repeat it.......

Let's all say a prayer for those who fought for our freedom....
