Effects of Lubrication and Pressure on Bolt Face Forces

I’m talking about wet ammo, not water in the bore though

Effects of Lubrication and Pressure on Bolt Face Forces

Ditto Makes me wonder if some of the pressure issues with wet ammo (eg from rain) are from it acting like a lube. I’d always assumed it was just because it was taking up space in the chamber and wasn’t compressible.

Tripod users, what are your group sizes?

lol yeah you can make a three legged table. But again it will make high angle difficult and I don’t think you’d want to put a bipod on that table lol. But I’d say the lower the more stable as long as the weight is on the legs. If your table is flexible in the center yeah the farther apart the...

Tripod users, what are your group sizes?

Yep that would do it. But adjusting that for shooting high angle for example might be slow. Managing the cable and pulley when walking around or lashing it to backpack was a pain in the butt. But it was fast shooting. It also pulled the forearm into the tripod leg. If I needed to move I...

Tripod users, what are your group sizes?

I don’t think I have any pics. I had a video but I don’t know where. The important point is that shooting off two legs of a tripod is 10x more stable than shooting off the top with a bag or clamp, plus you can lean your body on the tripod to further steady both. Use your imagination to hold...

What Does It Mean If One " Loses" The Target?

IMHO the ability to control recoil so your sights land back on target is different than natural point of aim. As an example, when shooting standing in HP/CMP natural point of aim is critical, but you have almost no control over recoil. Compared to sitting and prone rapid both are critical to...

    Only three...

Solid practical choices. Wear the barrels out of them and you’ll be 100x better than the guy with 50 rifles and 20 round box through each of them.

Crown royal purple bags used to be popular too

    Rear bag suggestions?

I made my own from two layers of spandex filled with play sand. Nothing I’ve ever found has been quite as good at that for shooting off the ground on bipod. But it got dust and sand everywhere and was heavy. I switched to a str8 laced bag with poly fill which is super light and 90% as good...

    Rossi 454 casull

I had one in 480 ruger 20 years ago. Hope they’re better now. Great concept but not very accurate back then

    Long Range Rifle/Scope/PRS question(s)

What scopes should be. Solid, turrets with good detents and zero stop, capped windage lol clear glass and a well thought out reticle. Double your spend from there gets you maybe 5% improvement? Only downside is the entire ocular rotates with mag change. Makes using butler creek style covers...

Vortex impact 4000 rail mounted LRF

so, amusing story. i just lased a cow at 2908 and 2910 yds. in the reticle the cow was right at a mil long and laying slightly at an angle. i thought, hmm... that cow must be about 9 feet long then, and that seemed really long to me. idk why i always thought cows were about 6' long. i'm...

AR15: Commercial vs. Milspec buffer tube - Question

You’re correct; gotbooster is not. Lower ar15 receivers only have one thread pattern and both com and mil work with it. As to your question, it’s up to you. I like mil spec. It’s worth $20 to me. But most civilian ARs prob use commercial. There are tens of millions of them out there and I...

    Rear bags for bench

This may sound crazy but for bench use, go to fabric store. Buy a yard of spandex. Sew it into a bag two layers thick and fill with play sand (the heavy stuff). Softball sized.
