Poorly worded question on my part. I carry a LCP and have no problem with that gun, and I asked the question simply because a friend and I were discussing how movies and video games influence peoples actions so much, i.e. hollywood justice, guns, "cap a nine in your ass" exc exc...
My first (and least expensive gun) handgun I ever got was a Bersa Thunder 380. $270 or so NIB, never had a problem with it, and still occasionally use it.
I wouldn't rag on someone who got a "ring of fire" gun, because many folks simply have no other options, and or resources to research...
I agree, I think most of the modern manufacturers all say you CAN dry fire their guns (ruger included), but I would still hesitated to do it, it's like taking a full kick at soccer ball and having it removed right before you hit it. That's the one thing that I don't like all that much about the...
It was a simple question. I stand by it because the law was put into place so that a citizen could stop a POTENTIALLY lethal situation BEFORE it became a lethal situation. The phrase the law uses is "defensive display of a firearm", in the sense that you can now "display" your firearm to let...
Gosh between the two of you guys I learn all I need to about my LCP! I don't have too much of a problem picking up the front sight unless the target is very dark in color or it's dim out, but white paint could help. Accuracy is excellent with this gun when I'm trying for perfect groups, but my...
As some of you may know in Arizona it is now ok in some scenarios to "brandish" your firearm so as to defuse a potentially lethal situation.

Many ccw permit holders (or non permit holders) carry small pocket pistols such as the keltecs, kahrs, bobcats/tomcats or lcp...
Well said. People rag on the info that the so-called youtube warriors post using denim and water jugs, but It seems like a pretty simple, accurate, and reliable test to me. Denim equals clothes, and water is the majority of whats in us, I mean you could throw some liver in the water jugs to...
22. I love my .357 revolver, I love shooting it, I love fondling it, and I love cleaning it. I like my semi-auto too, but it has a small niche for my use, whereas my revolver (and all others) is just a cool gun and useful for just about anything.
Your HP will expand fine. Coming out of a 2.25 barrel (I have the SP too) full power 125gr loads easily reach 1250 fps. That's still faster than most calibers out of a 4 inch barrel, but if your still concerned get the Corbon DPX round. I personally wouldn't get the Speer Gold Dot for short...
I think what he's saying is that the HP filling up and acting like a FMJ is the best-case-scenario for him. He doesn't want a HP because the petals act like breaks and thus the light 380 won't penetrate to well, especially if it hit's something before hand.
Frozen North, another good round...
This may be what your looking for....Buffalo Bore 100gr Hardcast flat nosed. It is standard pressure and is realworld tested at around 950fps for the small lcp, keltec style .380's. BB offers +P ammo as someone mentioned but Ruger says not to use it in my LCP so I don't, probably could but...
I get better with three magazines at a time. Then I reload. Then I get better with three more magazines at a time. Sometimes I only get better with two magazines at a time. Then I reload. Rinse and Repeat.
Hmmm.....A nice moderately priced 9mm....I assume you don't want another Glock, so the gun I would go with is a Springfield XD. You have a couple of variations in barrel length to choose from, and these guns (like Glocks), are used very frequently by LEA's, and known for their ease of use and...
You seem a little unsure of what you want Darebear. It seems (after much ciphering) that you would simply like a second 9mm pistol to back up your G19, and you want 9mm because it's cheap? Why do you need another 9mm pistol to back up your G19, Glock's are known for their extreme reliability...
What about a Ruger LC9? It's just as thin (pretty much same size everwhere, but more balanced), has a +1 on capacity (granted the PPS allows for the extended mag), and IMHO it is less "busy" than the Walther. Don't forget the much lower price tag and phenomenal Ruger warranty and CS.
+1 For the LCP. All I wear nine months out of the year is shorts and thin tees and the LCP is a gun that you can ACTUALLY carry every day with absolutely no discomfort, no printing, no worrying about a shirt riding up on your IWB holster, no having to constantly adjust your pants, no duty...
I do not own a 709 but I have handled and fired a friends many times and it's a comfortable gun to shoot but I would not count on it's reliability personally, too many jams. Haven't really heard to many things about the lc9, but it is a nice looking gun.
Just took the 4 hour class down at Ben Avery, and we really didn't cover anything.....We sat around for about an hour and then went out and shot 15 rounds from 7 yards and then briefly talked about basic laws and rules. I sort of wished I had done the full 8 hour course. I would be interested...
