    Hitchcock 45's hearing protection.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. My comment was addressing the fallacy that ear muffs protect against bone conduction of muzzle blast. The pressure wave of a muzzle blast impacts the skull and is transmitted through the skull and jaw bones to the ossicles and cochlea bones in the middle...

    Hitchcock 45's hearing protection.

The entire skull is bone that conducts noise to the ears.

Felons Cannot Possess Firearms or People Under Investigation for a Felony Cannot Possess Firearms?

There's federal law... ...and then there's state law. Two hurdles to jump.

What are the results of over gassing an AR 15 format?

Yes, many barrels are overgassed so they'll function with cheap underpowered ammo, but when you shoot full powered M193 and M855 the gun throws brass forward because it bounces off the deflector due to the increased velocity of the BCG. I have two Wilson Combat barrels. Both are among the most...

What are the results of over gassing an AR 15 format?

Be that as it may, I've had the same ARs change case ejection angle by using different powders, and swapping an NiB or nitrided BCG with a phosphate one, without any changes to mass.

What are the results of over gassing an AR 15 format?

It depends on gas port diameter, buffer weight, recoil spring weight, propellant, and bullet weight (and sometimes the finish on the BCG).

What are the results of over gassing an AR 15 format?

Brass ejecting forward can bounce back into your face when shooting from behind or under a barrier.

    My Carry Routine

A hard ass approach almost always elicits a hard ass response. I've seen it many times.

A rave about the Mantis Laser Academy

IMO, the laser bore sight cartridge gives more intuitive feedback compared to the Mantis app. As you press the trigger you can see the laser dot moving in real time to whatever shooting error you're doing. I have a Mantis X10. I got it at the beginning of the pandemic.

Pistol light out past the muzzle?

Some real good training with Craig Douglas of Shivworks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_yfwVap3DU

Pistol light out past the muzzle?

Yes, I'm being sarcastic in that post. If one intends to use a WML then one is obligated to seek competent professional training with that piece of equipment, because, under stress in a fight, there's this thing called "task saturation" that can lead one to press the trigger instead of pressing...

Pistol light out past the muzzle?

99 percent of folks here probably have never been in a fist fight or grappling fight, and many have never had any formal defensive pistol training.

Pistol light out past the muzzle?

Well... this is the Handgun Accessories forum, not the Long Gun Accessories forum.

Pistol light out past the muzzle?

No formal training is necessary. Just buy the light and attach it to your gun. Then watch a couple Youtube videos. I mean, how hard can it be to use a WML under stress?

Pistol light out past the muzzle?

Attempting trying to press the muzzle into an aggressor's body is the recipe for having to fight to maintain control over your gun. Always shoot from retention position at contact distance.

Pistol light out past the muzzle?

The Harries technique works quite well. I've used it since the 1980s. See - https://michaelharries.com/harries-flashlight-technique/ Also, the neck index technique illuminates both your sights and your target - no night sights needed.

A rave about the Mantis Laser Academy

Get a cheap laser boresight cartridge too (available from Amazon for about $10-15). It stays constantly "on" and allows you to see when you move the gun while pressing the trigger, enabling you to easily see and correct errors in your technique.

Man killed attempting to stop a carjacking

I appears to me the gun was loaded with blanks, for whatever reason. The deceased was way too nonchalant after the carjacker stole the truck. Not the kind of behavior I'd expect from somebody that just shot at somebody with live ammo.

    Terminal performance comparison

It's deformed (crushed due to shear force) as opposed to expanded. The bullet on the right is expanded, where the core of the bullet nose "flows" backward around the shank (due to inertial force).
