Supply and demand. Demand is high, so prices will go up.
I knew I should have gotten an AR-15 a year ago. Now I'll probably end up paying a couple hundred more. Of course, I'm betting that it'll always keep that value, so I can look at it as an investment. At least that's what I'll tell the...
I think that I'm going to go with the $150 stack-on that I found. Yes, I know that it won't stop a determined thief, and it's not fire-proof, but it is better than what I have now. It will stop the smash and grab thieves, and keep them locked up from little hands.
Maybe one day I'll graduate...
Thanks for the responses so far. Here's what I've found so far.

I could afford the $150 right now. I figure that if I put it in a closet with a deadbolt, then I'd have an added layer of protection. I know that it's not...
At what point do you get a gun safe? I now have six rifles and two handguns, all bought within the last year, but with a baby coming in December, I've probably bought my last gun for a long time. Mostly are military surplus, and I think I averaged $125 - $150 per gun. If I bought a good...
I do a little of each. For instance, when I went looking for my first 9mm, I researched about a dozen different guns, before deciding on the CZ-75. The next gun show I go to, I find a new CZ-75BD, with two mags, for $399. I leave happy. I did the same thing with my SKS, because I wanted a...
PremiumSauces,
Yes, it looks like the picture that you posted, the one pictured here: http://www.surplusrifle.com/mauserturkish/index.asp
I looked up the 1888 "Mauser", and found this picture: http://www.texastradingpost.com/m88/gew1.jpg
It does not look like this one.
From this, it looks...
Well, I can't post pictures, but here's what's stamped on the gun.

It also has a half moon, facing up, with a little star at the top.
Is that enough information to tell if its a 98 Mauser or not?
Thanks for the responses eveyone.
I don't have ammo yet, but saw on aimsurplus that their Romanian 150grn FMJ Mauser ammo is $99.95 for a 380 round can. Plus, right now, that ammo ships for only $0.01, some kind of a special they have going on. I think I'll buy a case of that and try it out...
I picked up a Turkish Mauser on Friday, but know next to nothing about it. Will it shoot regular Mauser ammo, or did the Turks do something strange with the caliber on it? Does anyone have one of these?
Plastic parts....hmm... Maybe I'll have to look around for a used one.
There's a gun show in town this weekend. Now, I know what people say about gun shows, but I've bought most of my guns from this show, and they have pretty good prices.
Thanks for the reviews everyone.
That's the price for a brand new one.
Almost all of my guns are used/surplus guns, so I'm not stuck on getting a new gun, but I haven't found any good used .22's in my area. Also, the 10/22 is the only .22 rifle I've shot. I know how it shoots, and I like it. I'd hate to buy a rifle only to...
Quick question... I've been looking for a .22 rifle to add to my collection, something a little cheaper to shoot than my .44 magnum or Nagant.
Dunham's has 10/22s on sale for $174.99. No scope, just the rifle, and with the wood finish. What do you think? Is this a good deal?
Great timing...I just came back from the gun store with my new SKS. The place had their Yugo SKS rifles priced between $239.99 and $269.99. They also had two Chinese ones for $279.99. The price difference was largely due to the condition of the stock. The more little scratches, the less the...
I don't own an AR, and don't plan on owning one in the near future, but if it was up to me, I'd have a hard time just spending $500-$600 on an AR. Think about it this way. You're willing to spend several hundred dollars to get a very entry level AR. Are you going to be satisfied with the...
