I did a little research and just got off the phone with Vortex. For $75 I could send in the scope and have the elevation turret replaced with one that has 1/4 MOA clicks. The reason I am considering this is that I located this scope currently on sale for $599. Hard to pass us that deal.
Hello,
I was in looking at riffle optics today for my next project. Putting together a Remington 700 .308 with the Remington 700 sps varmint as the base gun. Anyway I have a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 FFP on my 6.5 Creedmoor and love the scope. I'm goping to stick with Voretx again. I was looking at...
+1 for the 6.5 Creedmoor and Savage. I shot this with my Savage 12LRP with Vortex optic. Completely stock and with factory 140gr Hornady ammo. I haven't shoot 1000 yards with it yet but it was rock solid out to 820 yards so far.
Thanks for the input guys, it's greatly appreciated. I have run the numbers and the build will likely be more expensive than buying a compete riffle for sure. For instance, this spring I bought a Savage model 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor and it was a 1K gun then add optic, base, rings, ect and I was...
So I am planning on putting a riffle together as a winter project. Basically I want to get a lower cost starter rifle in .308 and add a custom stock, detachable magazine, muzzle break ect.
I have it narrowed down to two candidates.
The first is a Remington 700 ADL Varmint (internal...
How do you like the Choate stock? How is the fit and finish? I am thinking of getting the same stock for a Savage Model 11VT and then custom painting it for a winter project.
I thought I would post a couple of targets with the new riffle. The first target is With Hornady 120 gr factory loads @ 100 Yards, shot in an indoor range. Looks to be sub or close to 0.5" with 3 shots.
The second target I shot yesterday with Hornady 140gr factory loads @ 300 yards. Measures...
Thanks for all of the feedback everyone! It was really helpful. I settled on a riffle and purchased the Savage model 12 LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor. For an optic I went with the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50. I'm really happy with the setup and can't wait to take it out and enjoy it. The more I learned...
Thanks a lot for the responses everyone! They are helping a lot and yet leading me to more questions, haha. As with the recommendations here I am leaning towards a Savage but likely away from a magnum cartridge for now. In my searching through the gun shops and from help I have received here and...
Today I went into one of my local gun shops and they had a Savage 10FPSR .308 on the shelf for $599. It looks like a solid gun and I have read that it is very accurate out of the box. I am considering this as it is cheaper than the others and a good caliber for target shooting. Has anyone here...
Hi everyone,
I am looking to get back into some recreational bench rest/long range shooting. A little about myself, I am an avid sporting clays shooter and compete nationally at the Master Class level and really enjoy the clays game! I did a little bench rest shooting when I was younger with...
I backed out the over travel screw 3/4 of a turn and that did the trick. It's working great again. FYI the over travel screw on the trigger of a CZ 75 is 1.5mm in case others have the same issue.
Thanks guys! I heard from Rob @ CZ Customs and he also said to back out the over travel screw 1/2 to a full turn. Do any of you know what size (very small) allen wrench is used for the over travel screw?
Thanks!
I am hoping someone here may have an idea of what may be causing my CZ 75 to malfunction.
I recently purchased a new CZ 75 Shadow T-SA in 9mm. I bought the pistol in November and it has been working flawlessly up until recently. The problem I’m having is that it will not fire consecutive...
Hello, I'm hoping for some input on a new AR buy. I'm in the market for a new AR in the 16" barrel length. I have narrowed it down to the Ruger SR556 and Sig 516. Both are piston operated and close in price. I wanted to hear from people that have shot both and which one would you recommend...
Thanks hopper, I wasn't sure if everyone was on both forums. As you said it looks like it's going to be the Beretta or Guerini, they both shoulder great and feel great!
I was hoping to get peoples opinion on here regarding a few shotguns I have been looking at lately. I started shooting sporting clays a year ago and am really enjoying it! I placed 3rd at nationals this year in my class shooting my Browning Citori 625 Feather. It's a great gun but only has 28"...
Hi Dave, I shoot with a guy that has a full set of Muller chokes for his 12ga and he likes them a lot. Not sure if they were any better than his old diamond grade chokes but he says they are really light and easy to clean. They are pricey though. I spoke to Mr. Muller at the NSCA nationals this...
I agree with the other poster who said Wal-Mart for the cheap ammo. Manny of these places are a little cheaper for 9mm ammo ect but when you factor in shipping then the price the Winchester white box's of 100 from Wal-Mart are tough to beat for plinking/range ammo anyway. I have also found this...
