    Marlin JM

As all have said, it isnt the "JM stamped" rifles that have received such bad press, but then, even the JM's had problems. I have a 1977 Marlin 336 with the barrel twisted halfway around too much or too little. OK... that's an exaggeration, but an aftermarket sight almost runs out of adjustment...

    Determining Case Fill Percentage

Yes, but it's close enough when the idea for accuracy is generally to fill as much of the case as possible. Lee's manual is good at giving "useful case capacity" under the cartridge drawing of each caliber. It gives the measurement in CC's, but then CC's are one of the measurements listed in the...

    Priming on a LCT

As MDI says, if there's a burr (your first post said there maybe might be aburr somewhere, if I read it right) polish it off. We reloaders are tinkerers - that's part of what brings us to handloading. We can fix little things like that. At least that and much more.... I'm a batch primer too...

    "Ideal Lever Rifle"

I agree with mavracer: It doesn;t exist. But I like this one a tad more than my Marlins:

Talk to me about proper annealing technique

I hold the brass in my fingers like Elkins45. Then drop them into a bucket of water. They get shaken out, blown out with compressed air, and placed neck down in loading trays to finish drying. Most calibers I anneal after every fifth firing. I have had zero problems. - A batch of 22-250...

    1st Time reloader with question

Russell, The Lee Challenger Breechlock kit will do you very well for your first reloads and many more. However, any Lee Classic series (single-stage or turret) will last you a lifetime. There is no "upgrading" from this press, though some would argue that the Forster Co-Ax might be an upgrade...

    1st Time reloader with question

Russell, as far as your press, I say invest in the Lee Classic Cast single stage. This press cannot be beat for the money and even for more money. If you start reloading alot of 9mm, you may want to think about a turret press. I disagree regarding the Lee Factory Crimp Die. It is true you do...

It sure looks like a good one. Anyway, very nice setup.

    Getting my very first Press

That's a good kit. The Breechlock press is lightweight and not the best out there, but it is entirely functional for anything you will reload. Later, when you want to step up, to argueably the very best single stage or turret press out there, you can invest in a Lee Classic Cast or Turret...

Lee classic turret should I get it?

Another vote to check Kempf's kit.

That IS organized. I don;t think I've ever seen a bench so well-kept. I really like the wire baskets on the wall keeping your powder and such off the becnh. I think I can even see those baskets under the bench too. Very nice!

    Gun show find

Well, that's the ideal scenario, of course. But!! After he paid for the booth, gas, extra time to get there, and since he doesn't need to accept your offer before you hand over the money, why not then offer him $23.50? Offer, drop down the cash and coin, and walk away with the product. That...

    Gun show find

That's quite a revelation that nobody has thought of yet. And I appreciate it. but let me ask: If you knew your gun shop dealer sold certain dies at say, $30. Yet when you went by to get a set, he ws gone (to the gun show). So you go to the gun show, pay a $5 entry fee, and see your dealer...

    Gun show find

^^^ agreed. It's hard to find a "deal" anymore at a gun show. One of our local gunshop owners will have a booth and sell all his wares at prices higher than you'll find back in his shop! I guess they figure when guys come in to gun shows, they think they're going to get a good deal. When they...

Which is better,Lee Loadmaster or 1000?

I have to agree with Rule 3. I have too much respect for Lee's Classic line and their dies, but I'm not sure about their progressives. A month or so ago, there was a similar discussion, and several guys weighed in and lauded the Lee progressives. I've used Dillons (but never owned one). Their...

    Parker Hale Question

A used Parker Hale in 25-06 was for sale up until recently in my local gun shop. I fondled and inspected it several times and am still kicking myself for not buying it. It was a model 1200 and was in fine shape. It had a nice Weaver or older Redfield scope on it (can't remember now which). THe...
