When I bought my stainless Security Six new, it came with wooden target stocks (I still have them stored in the gun's original box). Here is a picture with the factory wooden stocks put on for reference:

Summer is here? Can't we at least wait until all the snow in our yard has melted?

    Four Riot Guns

If I could slightly stretch the concept of a 12ga "riot gun" over time, how about these? Top to bottom: 1) Beretta 1201FP, 12ga 20" semi-auto 2) Current Remington 870 12ga 18" pump 3) 1955 vintage Winchester 1897 12ga pump takedown. Previous owner cut it to about 18.5" with a modified...

    Model 10 Club

From another thread, 336A asked if I would post about this gun in this thread: I just bought an old revolver from a buddy of mine who is in dire financial straits. It is a civilian S&W First Model .38 Military and Police (Model of 1899). 6 1/2" barrel, fixed sights, .38 Special, made in 1899...

Radagast - Thank you for your informative post about my old S&W. I appreciate it!

I just picked up an old .38 M&P

For those who have mentioned it, there is certainly an up-front open offer to return it when he gets back on his feet. He is a good friend. Family heirlooms are too special to let go. I long ago bought a 1883 vintage 1881 Marlin .45-70 from the grandson of the man who bought it new and took...

Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

S&W First Model .38 M&P. Latest patent date 10/4/98 a) The caliber is not marked anywhere on the gun that I been able to find, even with a magnifier, but probably .38 Special(?) at least according to the seller, who has shot it with .38 Special LRN. b) 6 1/2" c) Round butt d) 6 shot e) Fixed...

I just picked up an old .38 M&P

Thanks for the comments. There is an open offer to sell it back to him when he lands on his feet. There are NO markings for its chambering on the barrel or anywhere on the gun that I have been able to discern yet, even using magnification, but he has been shooting .38 Special 158gr lead round...

I just picked up an old .38 M&P

I just bought an old revolver from a buddy of mine who is in dire financial straits. It is a civilian S&W First Model .38 Military and Police (Model of 1898). 6 1/2" barrel, fixed sights, made in 1899, serial number just under 1600. It still has a lot of original blue and the action is strong...

300 Win Mag vs. .30-06...Which would you choose?

I have an old FN Mauser Supreme chambered in .30-06 Ackley Improved and while agreeing with you and think it is the best compromise of all, the subtleties are beyond the scope of this discussion.

300 Win Mag vs. .30-06...Which would you choose?

.30-06 all the way. BTW, if you have to take shots out to 400 yards and beyond, you're not doing it right. Learn how to stalk your game. I don't think there are any legitimate reasons, IMHO, for the vast majority of people to take shots that long at an unwounded animal. Most of the time...

    Best round for .32ACP carry

I have an older Seecamp .32acp. They have always recommend Winchester Silvertips for it and that is what I use. The reliability issue is the most important to me. Maybe when my current Silvertip supply is used up I will try something else. They are now saying there are some other brands that...

    Ruger Security Six

I bought my (new) 4" SS Security Six in about 1977. I have owned that one longer than any other gun I have and cannot ever imagine getting rid of it.

    The Marlin 39 Club

Count me in! I used to have a Marlin 39 Mountie carbine back in the 70s and am still black and blue from kicking myself after selling it. Here is my Marlin 39A "transitional" model made in 1939. This was the first year made and the only year with this pistol grip shape. I got it about 15...

Where did all the Thompsons go?

When I was a kid growing up in Minnesota in the 50's, my neighbor buddy's dad showed us a Thompson he brought home after WW2. He said he didn't have any use for it, so he turned it into the local police station shortly afterwards. :(
